I went to Claire's Pantry for Thanksgiving, because I'd caught a cold I didn't want to risk exposing folks to in a crowd, so had to abandon my usual 'extended family' Thanksgiving invite. I figured between a public place (more spread out) and using a mask, I should be fine for dining. I looked up local restaurants serving Thanksgiving dinner, and settled on Claire's. The meal was adequate, certainly not what one accustomed to Thanksgiving excess would hope for, but a standard size ice-cream scoop of potatoes with gravy, the same size stuffing with a couple slices of what seemed to be pressed Turkey loaf (not the nasty kind used in bad sandwiches, but real meat pressed so that a slice gets white and dark meat) on top, with gravy over that as well, perhaps 11 or so green beans with a light sauce and a couple slivers of almond (so almondine, I guess), a ceramic butter cup (normally used for a scoop of butter) with a thus small scoop of cranberry sauce, and another with an equally small serving of yams with 4 mini marshmallows on top. A diet soda (I don't like high fructose corn syrup, thank you very much), and a sadly weak slice of pumpkin pie (both is size, and in flavor) with among the blandest whip cream I've had... And as my receipt shows...$50 before the tip. For me, about the only place I feel $50 (well, a little higher) is an acceptable check, is my preferred Brazilian Rodizio restaurant, which is all you can eat. To pay $50 for a plate of food, in a place that feels only slightly more upscale than a Patty's Eggnest is beyond the pale. $8 for a slice from an 8" pumpkin pie is outright highway robbery...a $64 pie, at best (I'm not sure I actually GOT an eighth slice).
To summarize: for those with too much money, and no actual sense of taste, Claire's is your go-to in the Edmonds area. But if you actually LIKE good food, and have to live on ANY kind of budget, join me in staying away from this place. I know I will definitely not...
Read moreService slow and unprofessional, name wasn't taking by the host even after asking if she needed one... then soon after a party of the same size came in and was seated immediately with no reservation...was then sat at a dirty table with no menus or highschair as requested (trying to not to nit pick I promise)
Server was older, grey goatee, took 10 minutes to come to our table (no biggie) to then say "drinks?" We said we haven't gotten menus yet so waters would be great, he huffed and puffed to grab them proceeded to take another 10 minutes to bring water and 2 diet cokes that nobody ordered..
The menu was typical, nothing special to them, pancakes were dry, essentially had crouton dust on my salad (maybe they were out?) Omelette was cold and veggies were very undercooked..
My thumbs have told me to not further this review but to simply wrap it up with the following..
This place is sloppy and slow and there is not one ounce of a good time to be had here... no drink menus, no specials, slow service, inattentive staff, sloppy presentation of food.. just not jazzed about this spot..
Glad I brought my mom here..will be a "memorable" Mothers Day.....
Read moreWe went to Claire's in Edmonds today. To start, our server never brought us waters even after we asked twice. The food came out before we even got water. We had to ask a bus boy to get our waters. My salad came out missing both bacon & olives with the wrong dressing. The chicken on the salad was terrible. The fries were way overdone. One person in our party sent nachos back because they were completely overcooked. The server brought her a menu to look for something else to order then she NEVER came back. The rest of our party finished their food before she even returned to our table. I ate maybe 4 bites of my salad, clearly not impressed. The server didn't ask if there was a problem or anything. I am very forgiving as far as service goes. Had the restaurant been busy id cut them some slack but we were one of 4 tables in the entire place. We will definitely never return. Such a disappointing experience. Especially on...
