I walked in and liked the atmosphere, and the counter person was friendly. I ordered to-go in person: the Red Curry, opting for chicken as the protein; Pad See Ew, opting for beef (which I had to pay $2 more for - which I balked at but paid it anyway); and, I declined paying for any rice (it was already cooking at home...since Rice, generally speaking, is typically overpriced at restaurants).
For two items I paid $38.93 including tax, $40 including tip! Well...it was way too pricey. I'm sorry. I know restaurants need to make a living, but basically $40 for two items is highway robbery. I won't be back. It was simply too expensive for what was simply a good meal...not a great meal.
The textures were good, the heat was good, but both items were missing subtle flavor notes, a savory-ness the best of these dishes offer and for which are known. I've had my share of these items over time, so I know what is good and what is great.
With this said, tho', the meal found its way home in good condition 15 minutes later (and waiting at the restaurant 20 minutes' cooking time). The portions were large, but not $40 large given what paid. The carry bag seemed a little light to me, so I knew before opening the cartons they were not as packed as heartily as $40 should have provided.
I'm sorry, dear restaurant owner(s), but these days for return business the food has be exceptional and with experienced value.
I have a suggestion which wouldn't have made a difference for me, but I would have noticed this if it was encountered: Include a small "freebie" item for every $20 or less spent, something you don't advertise, quietly added to the container as a "found bonus"...small sweet or savory of some type. This tactic might have softened the situation and possibly shifted my perceptions.
Update: Thank you for having responded to my view; I appreciate the effort and...
Read moreUpdate: they handled the situation much better the next day and I understand there was a break down in communication. I want to still be angry about it, but they took responsibility and I can tell they honestly felt bad. The food is also really good. I would eat here again, but I would be hesitant to take anyone with food allergies.
DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU ARE CELIAC. My sister is celiac and this place popped up as having gluten free options. We called to confirm and the woman who answered the phone said everything was gluten free. Once we placed the order, we called again to confirm that they were aware of that as there was no place to put it in the notes: the woman once again reiterated that all their food was gluten free. We get the order and eat and an hour later my sister is vomiting and in extreme pain. There is no other chance she got sick from something else as this was the only thing she ate besides safe foods she brought herself. Do not eat here if you are celiac. They are either not educated in allergens or they do not care enough to...
Read moreThis was my second attempt to try this place. The first time I saw this place after working out. I read the reviews and was excited to try it out. The food is exactly what other folks have noted, for the most part, good. The issue I had on both occasions, they get my order wrong and both times I did take-out. The first time, I ordered the crispy garlic chicken, and they prepared the cashew chicken, which was pretty good. This go around, the lady at the front counter was not friendly, kept having me repeat my order and when I had inquired about a few of the menu items was very dismissive as if I was a burden on her. Long story short, the order was wrong again, the soup contained tofu which I specifically said not to put in the soup. The soup tasted horrible, the chicken was lukewarm at best and the crab was dried out. Not to mention, I watched them place my order on the counter and they tried to send it off to an Uber eats driver. The meal had sat on the counter for 5 minutes before they finally realized that it was supposed to...
