Somewhat guiltily, I swung in to Popeye's last night a little after 9:00. I had to maneuver around the line of cars in the drive-thru to park. I walked past the 5 or 6 cars waiting to be served, all of their engines running. I wish there were more conscious people and companies that would discourage the waste and pollution of idling. As I went in the front door, I saw that one genius had his car parked, with the engine running, the lights on, and NOBODY IN THE CAR. Drives me nuts. I stopped in there because I remembered that the Popeye's chicken I last had 15 years ago or so was pretty good, so I stood waiting to order for over five minutes, scanning the menus for a la carte ordering, of which there was none. The woman at the counter never acknowledged me or asked if I could be helped, so I finally stepped up and asked the price of a chicken thigh. With the mandatory biscuit, it came to $2.62 with tax. I figured I'd give it a try. I had to ask for butter for the biscuit, something I would normally avoid, but hey, it was included. I was given two small packets. The chicken was very good-hot, juicy, and tasty. I peeled some of the quarter pound of greasy but crisp batter off it to get to the meat. Turns out the "butter" was "40% Something oil whipped Something spread". It was canola oil with 5 or 6 chemicals in it that approximated the color of butter. No cows were involved in its production. The biscuit was somewhat crispy outside, but had that kind of dry doughy inside that makes it hard to swallow unlubricated. The spread I put on it tasted even worse than it sounded, and 2-3 bites of it was all I could take. The bathroom I visited to clean off the grease was reasonably clean, as was the "dining room". Walking back to my parking space, another six cars (or were they the same ones?) idled in line, filling the air around the small joint with invisible carbon-based particulate byproducts. Overall, a somewhat depressing outing that I'll try to...
Read moreThis restaurant not for white people! Last night the All African American employee crew refused to allow me to purchase food. One such person identified himself as "THE MANAGER", after female said "we're closed". I was there well before 10pm, internet still states: open till 11pm. A group of 3 African American employees (2 women, 1 man) were standing next to drive-in window inside store looking at each other and me when I drove thru, then they got busy and hustled a lot of food together for the occupants of the cars in cars after me -- several bags of food
Earlier, Heavy African American woman taking orders for drive thru came outside, looked at me in my silver 4Runner and quietly spoke to occupants in car in front of me. They then served 2 other cars in front of me, car directly in front then left without food and I left witout food.
I then watched from next door at Burger King with binoculars and camera with telephoto lens; and filmed them serving car behind me and car that was in front of me, which returned and was also served. The occupants of cars served after me were both African American. I could see food being put into bags and bags handed through window to occupants of both cars, along with drinks, by person calling himself MANAGER. The cameras in store will verify all of this. Will obtain a court order by tomorrow to preserve the evidence, and go public. This is 21st Century near San Francisco and Berkeley. There is no place in this area, or California, or United States for this type if hate and ignorance from a company doing business in California, my lawyers will see to that, ...
Read moreThis place is absolutely horrible. Every time I go in they always have chicken ready but they always have to cook your fries. I'm all about fresh fries but I don't wanna wait 8 minutes when I come in to a fast food restaurant for lunch and I'm the only person in their. Is no way I should have to wait that long and this happened every single time I come here baby you should have a fresh fry routine where you cook a certain amount of fries after every 20 minutes or so you throw them out and cook some new ones so you always have fresh fries and customers don't have to wait in waste so much time period on top of all that you guys are really expensive and most of your restaurants are dirty and have very poor customer service but the chicken is usually so good. So I got about 5 minutes away from this restaurant and opened up the food they gave me I should have done this before because the order was totally wrong so now I had to turn all the way back around go get the right food. When I start digging into it I'm expecting the delicious popeye's chicken that I normally get but when in reality I bit into it and it was old hard and dry so this is definitely gonna be the last time I ever go to this popeye's and I suggest this be the same conclusion for everybody else because this place sucks. It's a shame because I...
