3RTEK — Local services in El Cerrito

Ok so I did a Yelp request for repair on my Galaxy S5, needs a screen and digitizer. Several reply were made by several repair places in the area, some were Apple only, some were not available and some didn't even respond. Of the ones that did respond Alan G. Of RTek was one of them. Most peeps gave a price between $100 and $180. Alan responded with a $100 quote but didn't have that screen in stock and said he had to order it and would let me know when it came in. He texted me (after asking my phone number) to let me know it was in. I wasn't able to get back to him for like 2 weeks. When I did get ahold of him today, he first varified he had the screen and the right color, so I asked him to verify the cost and he changed his price from $100 to $160. I mentioned that he quoted me $100 and that I still have the communication of his quote still on my phone, so he checked his records but could not varify anykind of contact with me at all (even tho there are several email and texts to show him). So after a depressing phone call I decided to just look elsewhere. Im giving this 2 Star review because he did contact me and was courteous when I spoke to him. By giving a false quote/not honoring the quote makes him seem like he is dishonest, forgetful or intentionally deceitful. Whichever it is, I will not be giving RTek any of my business, I can only share my experience with others, if he gives you a quote better get it in writing before hand or get...

Alan Gao is the Best when it comes to phone and electronics repair! I've been there twice and had great results both times. The second more recent time I went there he was able to fix my cell phone fast, as soon as the parts that were needed came in. If he seems a little busy it's because he's good at what he does and everyone knows it. In fact, I was recommended to him by multiple friends that are very knowledgeable about cell phone repair. To me it seems like he gives all of his many repair jobs top attention to the details. The first time I went there he was very honest and told me that 1st phone was beyond repairing, when other shops were saying they could do it but in the end they really were just lying to get money ("F@st-Repair"was the name of that mini chain RIP-OFF lying and stealing electronics repair stores.) When you put that all together you can easily see you're getting an honest and knowledgeable repair person to work on your broken electronics. Don't mail your phone away to some location you can't trust. Come see Alan and get some food next door at one of the many restaurants in the area and he might even be able to fix your electronics or your phone...

This is the 2nd time I went to get my cell phone repaired with 3RTEK. The first time was when I still lived in Albany so he was nearby. The 2nd time which was now, I came from Berkeley even with other cell phone repair shops being closer. Why? Alan is a very professional, hard working and respectful person. I am not much of an IPhone or Apple guy. In both cases I dropped a Galaxy Samsung Note and needed to repair a broken screen or the charging port. Alan quickly diagnosed the problem and provided a solution with upfront pricing and estimated time to complete the repair. Today I needed both my charging port and the back of my cell phone replaced. The cost was very reasonable and my phone was ready within 2 hours after dropping it off. Bottom line: if you break your phone, Alan is your guy in the East Bay. Highly recommended...
