Carnitas Queretaro has always been a favorite spot for me and my family no matter if it's just for a quick bite, large family dinner, or a drink while watching the game. For this last occasion it was right after a christening . We decided to stop by and have brunch. The wait for a table for 16 people was almost non-existant and the atmosphere and service was the typical friendly inviting and curteous experience that we are used to. The food was delicious, however the prices have certainly increased since my last visit. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I will not return again, but still there was a bit of a shock when I saw that taco prices on the menu were in the $20 range. At first I believed that it was the price of a comalero which is typically a plate designed to be shared by 2 or more people but then I saw that platter was actually listed elsewhere and in the $60 to $70 range. Either way I decided to order the Chilaquiles montados (two fried eggs on top) in mole sauce. The price for that was very reasonable and very well portioned. The flavor was amazing! The sauce was thick, rich and full of flavor as a good mole sauce should be. Not at all spicy, even though I actually enjoy it, but well balanced and enjoyable. Still one of my favorite places to go eat but slightly disappointed with the price increase. My son ordered their famous Queretaro Plate which consists of pork carnitas rice and beans and accompanied by warm corn tortillas. I was disappointed that they no longer serve them in a preheated skillet but rather on a plate so the food tends to go cold faster. Other than that, they were amazing as usual. I highly recommend them. My friend had the asado ballezano which was incredible! All in all, Carnitas Queretaro does not disappoint in flavor. They will most definitely fill your stomach, but may drain your pocket a little in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was sour. Unpleasant dining experience. Marlen Fernanda, our server, was nice and professional. This was our first time back to Carnitas Queretaro after a while and we were looking forward to it all week. Unfortunately it was a very unpleasant diining experience. The food tasted old and sour. Starting with the orange salsa, it tasted dirty and old. The chips that came with the salsa were stale. The beans were sour and old. The carnitas were a mix of fresh carnitas and old sour pork meat. The rice was ok. The beans were the worst. They were so bad we told our server about the sour beans and we witnessed and heard her tell the manager. The manager's response was dismissing and unprofessional. He shrugged his shoulders while appearing not to care about the food he was serving his patrons. He was busier acting like a clown with other staff than acting like a manager. The fact that he didn't come to address the bad experience is poor management and a bad reflection on the restaurant, but the fact that he didn't make it a point to remove the sour beans from being served to other patrons reveals what is lacking from the manager and restaurant's philosophy. I am sure there is a code compliance violation in there somewhere. We will never return to this chain restaurant. I unfortunately will have to share this unpleasant dining experience with all our friends and family so they can avoid getting ill from old sour food served at a restaurant managed by someone who shouldn't be representing the establishment. I seldom post reviews unless I have an excellent experience or a very unpleasant one. So there you have it. Stay away from this restaurant chain, especially the one...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy review will be based on the fact that I believe training was not provided by Management for the waitress and the bartender. My family and I were across the street attending a funeral and looking to grab a bite to eat afterward. I noticed that Carnitas Queretaro was across the street and my family and I have previously visited other locations in El Paso. My brother asked for a gin and tonic and the waitress asked "Do you mean Jim?" as in Jim Beam. My brother repeated and said no "Gin and Tonic." My other brother and I ordered a Maker's Mark on the rocks, my brother asked for a double shot. After a few minutes, the waitress came back and asked my brother who ordered the gin and tonic, "So your drink is it like vodka?" We all looked at each other kind confused and my brother again stated "No, gin and tonic." The waitress literally told my brother, "Can you go to the bartender and tell him please, I'm not familiar with your drink." My brother got up out of his chair and had to go to the bartender who also did not know what Gin was and my brother then pointed to the bottle of Bombay and requested with tonic water. When the waitress came back with our drinks, my brother's drink of gin and tonic was in a extremely large glass and it had sprite instead of tonic, my brother and I drinks that we ordered Maker's Mark on the rocks had Coke and it didn't taste like Maker's Mark but more like Jack Daniels, there is a difference in the taste especially if you have tasted both. Anyway, the food was great, we all enjoyed it. The waitress was very cordial and friendly, but you all definitely need to provide more training on drink specialties. Not everyone in El Paso drinks...
