I normally don’t leave reviews unless I have a very positive or very negative experience. This is my second time eating here. The first time, my daughter’s order was incorrect. She got the flaming burger or whatever it’s called with the hot Cheetos? and she got a plain burger and my Moms onion rings were missing. They corrected it. No big deal. Mistakes happen. The food was good. Fast forward to today, I ordered the original double double and a large fry. When I first opened the wrapper the first thing I noticed is the whole paper was covered in bbq sauce because it was so messy and coming out of the sides. The second thing I noticed, it was just bbq sauce and meat. (The menu and online says cheese, pickles, onion and bbq.) I double check my order to make sure I ordered it correctly, and I did. So, I go inside.. tell the lady at the counter.. and show her my receipt. She’s like, “So, you wanted it plain and dry?” I’m like no… I didn’t make any modifications to it. I just ordered it the way it comes.. and I point out how messy the wrapper was. She says she can go ask the manager *if* they can remake my burger. (Never apologizing for the issue.) So, then the manager comes out and asks me what’s wrong with my burger… I explain it again and point out the messiness of the burger too. She tells me that it doesn’t come with cheese…. So, I pull up the menu online where it clearly has a picture of a double double with cheese.. and states that it comes with cheese… and I show her my receipt that I did not make any customizations. So, then she says they will remake it… and again, at no point did anyone apologize for the mistake. I used to work in the service industry so I’m not being picky or being a brat. But, my order was incorrect… I was argued with essentially that my order was wrong my both the employee and manager… no apology and again I was very kind about it. I just wanted what I ordered. Finally got my remake. The burger was very good. Like I said, the food is good but both times the service has been lacking unfortunately.

Having heard only good things about the charcoaler and loving all good burguers, we decided to try this one out for the first time. We did not like this place because of the flavor and portion size (comparing it to cost : food : taste ratio). Tl;dr: There is nothing special about the food, in my humble opinion its overall quality is below average. Pros: >Good service >Fast service ( 5 cards ahead of us, yet we did not wait long) >Friendly staff > We did enjoy the fries (not chilli cheese fries) Cons: >Flavor is just not special in any way, the meat didn't even had the charcoal taste you get when you grill it, the buns were soggy, the chilli cheese fries were 100% bland - no good cheese, and if not seasoned grounded beef can count as chilli, then this are your fries. Our sprite had that out-of-syrup flavor but that happens even to the best. > Portion size The review here that mentions that the burguers are like a dollar menu cheeseburger from McDonald's is right, it simply is too small for the price, whereas on the same street you can get way better burguers for 5 dollars. I won't include the lack of variety in the menu, because you can have a simple one and still be great: see In n Out

I've been partaking in the #7 with cheese at Charcoaler since my mom started me on solid food. We almost lost this place a couple years ago, and the food was suffering, if we're being honest, but the new owners--whoever you are--breathed new life into the place. They reclaimed the giant lawn and turned it into an outdoor fun zoney type of deal. Anyone remember back in the 80s when they spray painted the lawn green? That was weird. The #7 (green chile [not chili] double) with cheese IS the essential Charcoaler. Could it be better? Sure, they could add 25% more green chile and secret sauces and distribute them more evenly across the burger (hence 4 out of 5 and not the whole 5), but it's a classic taste of EPTX. One MAJOR improvement over old management is the onion rings. They used to be super greasy and fall apart. The new crew has got a way better recipe and a better cook on the fryer. My mom is a vegetarian and she says the veggie burger (add chile) is a solid choice if you don't eat meat.

Well, this is the second time that I've went. It has been maybe 6 months since I've went, it was 646 when I was in line for almost 30 minutes. They have young tattooed guys cooking your food. Young tattooed girls and they are intermangling like it's a high school type of you know, pick up place. I knew the owner but many years back. And this is not the way the charburger. Was he deceased and he left the place to his son and his daughter-in-law? And I do believe they had sold it. Because it's a different owner. If you see it says a management on the front window. But this place is truly horrible. And I don't think he understands just how much business he actually could have and how good the place could actually be. Because a char Burger is like a Burger King Burger. It tastes very good, but the food there is not very good. The Onion rings are not very good. The lemonade is not cold. It's like the same charburger and I would tell a pasolence. Do yourself a favor if you can't make it to a 5 guys or to a water Burger. Don't hold it in this place. Cause it. You won't be happy if you do have to go there. Try to make it during the day. Maybe when the managers there because when the manager isn't there. The food and the service is just terrible and you know, I hate to say that but I mean it's just terrible. My name is Robert Hatton. I'm just a consumer who writes it as it is. I don't sugar, coat it and I tell the truth. I believe people should know The truth about the place that they are visiting taking their family and friends and the experience that they are going to be expecting, but probably not having because if Bud saw what was going on there, the original owner of both charbergs on the East Side on Montana and the one that's there on the website. He'd be turning in his grave right now. He'd be up in arms. Hopefully the owner or the manager will see this and will truly take charge in and change the direction. The way you change the direction is you have to hire a good responsible night manager. Needless to say I was very...

The last two times we have stopped by, the young employees are not taking their jobs seriously. The first time we stopped by the employee was busy listening to music on her phone. She didn't notice I was waiting in line to order. She finally took my order and gave me a number. I took a seat at the table and was waiting for our food. I saw the employee inside place the food next to the window where the food is picked up. The employee left the building and a few minutes later she picked up the food. She stayed outside another couple of minutes talking to another employee that had just gotten there. She brought in the food and handed it to me. My response to her was "I guess there was no rush on the food". I got outside and my wife told me that the employee that picked up the food had just taken out the trash without washing her hands. Yesterday we got there and parked. We saw one of the employee going through the drive up window instead of using the door. Short cut I guess. I went inside and there was no employee inside except for a couple waiting to place their order. All of a sudden there were 4 employees there. They took the couples order and then the employee turn away and started taking to the other employees. I waited about a minute and then she asked if she could help me. I just asked her a question about the food and then walked out. Having second thoughts about going back. Looks like it's just a lot of young employees working there and not taking the job seriously. Hopefully no...
