Villa Del Mar — Restaurant in El Paso

I just tried to have dinner at this location and I’m absolutely livid. Not only was the waiter super rude, but the manager is even worse. I went tonight(5/6) to celebrate an early first Mother’s Day with my husband and this experience was terrible. The waiter walked past us for about 15 minutes without ever acknowledging us or even asking if we’d like something to drink. Eventually he comes over and takes our order and hurries off without even giving me the chance to tell him we wanted an appetizer. It took him forever to bring us two cokes which I find is odd seeing the place wasn’t even busy at all. He kept walking past our table acknowledging other people and other tables without asking if we wanted our table cleared or refills on our drinks. I don’t know if he didn’t want us for his table or didn’t like us, but not looking up at someone when you talk to them is extremely rude. He kept making it seem like we were bothering him and an inconvenience to him. He was very willing to help the table infront of us with the other couples, but wouldn’t give us the time of day?? I honestly have never felt so uncomfortable eating at a restaurant before. I went to tell the manager that we’d like another waiter and instead of doing so, she just tells him to clear our table. We decided to just pay for our drinks and appetizer. Not even an apology from him as he cleared our table or even a look up at us. He just came to our table grabbed the stuff and walked off. We had to stop him before he completely left from view to ask for the receipt and he stood in front of us and waited for us to give him the money before leaving. My family and I went there today and the service was horrible! Our server was Jesus and he is the worst! He never came to check on our tables. We had to ask other weight stuff for stuff or refills because he was nowhere to be found. I ordered a large clam chowder to go, it was a small foam cup and it was $14 so I told him I don’t want it. We waited about 25 minutes for him to bring our ticket. I told my family let’s get up and walk towards the door to get his reaction and right away came With the clam chowder and I told him that we were tired of sitting down waiting for him that he can bring our ticket to the front. When he brought the clam chowder and I saw the small cup, I told him I don’t want it and to remove it from my ticket . I was talking to him and he walked away and ignored me. I proceeded to ask the hostess for the manager and the manager is just as stupid as the waiter. I told him everything that happened since we got there and how bad the service Jesus gave us and it seemed to me that he had had the problem with him before because he kept agreeing with me. I told him I returned the clam chowder because it is ridiculous that he is selling a soup for $14 in the smallest foam cup. I have seen and you would have thought that for my troubles he would’ve gave it back to me since I know they would probably throw it away, but he didn’t. I will never return to this place again. he had a lot of employees just standing around watching the TV and instead of helping the servers. Do not waste your money here. That’s $150. I have always liked this restaurant for their food, pricing, and quality. However this last visit (on my birthday) was very disappointing. I phoned in to verify they had black bass and the female that answered the phone (hostess?) did not know what a black bass was... and after asking a waiter she assured me they had several types of bass fish...black bass, tilapia..😲😲😲 Food: I ordered a scallop cocktail which took forever and a Sunday to get to my table. When I tasted it I had no choice but to send it back...you could clearly taste it had been defrosted in a hurry, and some were still frozen. No wonder it took them forever to bring it to the table. The Black bass was also partially frozen, so I ate the cooked parts and left the rest. Service: the young waitress was polite but forgetful. Service was average at best. Atmosphere: the restaurant is of good size and was well kept and maintained. I saw an older gentleman walking the floor, but he seemed to approach only the tables where people were obviously enjoying themselves. Pricing: like everywhere else, prices are up by about 20% and sizes are down by about10%. So you do the math. However I must say that their prices on fish and seafood are amongst the lowest in town. One more thing to the manager and owner: please do not mix types of fish in your fish tanks at the waiting area. By this I mean you have cyclists, Asian, south and central American fish all in the same tank....and they are mortal enemies...that's why they are chasing each other all the time...its animal cruelty and it just shows how little you know about fish.
