I personally don't know anyone who goes out to support more locally owned restaurants than I do
I've tried to visit and least 3 different restaurants each week for the past few years.
But my visit here was extraordinarily disappointing.
I ordered breakfast and the waitress asked me how I wanted the eggs, and I told her, what I have told each and every restaurant for the past 40 years, "one over easy and one scrambled"
She looked at me and said that her cook could not do that.
I immediately realized that there was gonna be a huge problem.
What short order cook, fry cook, planchero... cannot cook one egg over easy and one scrambled !
Eggs are the absolute basic thing that all of us learned to cook.
But apparently that simple / basic order is a challenge here. I couldn't even begin to imagine what the rest of the food would be like.
So we got up and left and went to another restaurant just a few blocks are on the corner...
when the waitress at Mission Cafe asked me how I wanted the eggs I replied the same way, "one overeasy and one scrambled" and all she replied was 'would you like white or wheat toast' just like all the other hundreds of restaurants have for the past 40 years.
It is my understanding that the restaurant has new owners, and while I'm sure that this restaurant has its own small following... I of course, I will not be among those ranks.
But I do wish them well and I hope the new owners will someday be able to find a cook that can cook one egg over easy and...
Read moreOverall, we came here because we wanted something fast within the 1.5 we had. The food was terrible. We left all the food.
So get this a cup of caldo de res is supposed to have beef. Believe it or not, no beef, just veggies. Waitress goes on to lie and say I ordered a veggie soup. I had to ask another waitress for the menu. Maybe I was wrong. Nope, she was wrong she went on to tell me it's a veggie soup. My husband told her why you were misleading customers?
Chimichanaga is pretty gross the rice old, kids ordered tenders and a burger oh lord old fries that were refried. My sons burger had a huge thumb imprint in it. As if someone has stuck the finger on top of the burger.
Tenders were so old you could tell that they were in a freezer.
Overall, this was a terrible experience. Everything was left at the end. My daughter had her tacos and was not hard, but stale.
Rice hard, beans old and flavorless. Will never come back. This is on do not stop as busy as it seems not a good mexican restaurant. There are better places.
Customer service: takes forever to come by your table.
I added my lame veggie soup that the waitress lied and told...
Read moreI had ordered rancheros enchiladas, and somewhere along the line there was a misunderstanding, they made green enchiladas, NO PROBLEM! Completely understand the mix up, but when I brought it to staffs attention I was told "the foods already made and if I want rancheros I have to buy another plate". I work in customer service, and if I told one of my customers something to this affect I'd lose my job, not only that but the lady on the phone went from 0-100 with no sort of care at all saying things like "You made the mistake not me" like I understand the business aspect of it but you could at least treat me like you care about the money IM paying you for your SERVICE this is a transaction not a favor your doing for me. The food is decent, and I've never had a problem up until now, been coming here for years and Idk if its new staff or what but I've never been treated like this and it makes me hope that no one else gets this same flat...
