The food was great but I am rating this one star due to the service received. My husband and I ate lunch there on the Veterans Day holiday. Both of us served in combat zones and have a total of 48 years Military service combined. We took our 3 year old for a fun outing and sought out this restaurant while at the mall. As we walked in, it seemed a little dark (red flag #1), as we were seated the greeter asked us booth or table, I told her booth. She took us to a corner table away from the main dining area when there were booths available in the main dining area. I did not think anything of it right of way until I took my son to wash his hands. As I walked through the main lobby I noticed that my husband and I were the only bi-racial couple in the restaurant. In fact, the tables in the main lobby were decorated with a nice flower and appropriate number of plate settings. Our table had one plate setting and some salt and pepper (red flag #2). Further more,as I walked into the bathroom, it was dark as if it were a bathroom in a club. At this point, we stayed to eat considering our 3 year old was getting hangry and I will say the food was great! My husband and I had salads and they were pretty fresh. Half way into my salad I ordered a glass of wine. While enjoying my wine, I noticed something floating in it. I actually thought it was a small piece of lettuce from my salad but it turned out to be a nat. In fact, I had to use the light from my cell phone to determine what it was, when I did, the nat was still alive and floating around. When I brought it up to the waitress, she still charged us for the unfinished wine but gave us a free muffin. Her response was yeh sometimes that happens we have nats (or something to that effect).
So not only did you all put two decorated veterans in a dark corner of the restaurant right outside the kitchen, you didn’t feel our money was good enough to give us a nat free glass of wine! Makes me wonder what else we ate that we could not see??? I am sure the Caucasians sitting in the front of the restaurant did not have this problem. I will not be fooled again, really wanted this place to work for us but I will never return to this...
Read moreMy mom and I have been going to The Greenery for over 15 years, even after the ownership change, because we’ve always supported local. But today’s visit left us extremely disappointed.
We politely asked our waitress, Hannah, if it was possible to get a cup of carrot soup instead of a bowl—something they’ve kindly done before. We even told her not to worry if they couldn’t accommodate. Still, the first thing she said when walking into the kitchen was, “Feel free to say no.”
There were only about three tables taken in the entire restaurant during lunch, so we could clearly hear everything. Another waitress, Kat, chimed in saying, “Just tell them no,” and added, “Just tell them to buy the whole bowl and pour it in a cup—that’s what I always say.” The chef, Manny, also became loudly irritated. It felt like they were speaking that way on purpose—passive-aggressively—to make sure we heard how annoyed they were that we even asked.
When Hannah came back, she acted like we hadn’t heard anything and gave us a scripted workaround that felt dismissive and dishonest.
They’re located in Sunland Park Mall, which isn’t a very busy place. With all the restaurant options El Paso has now—local and chain alike—you’d think they’d want to take better care of loyal customers, especially when the restaurant was nearly empty.
If the answer had simply been no, we would’ve understood. But the way it was handled—with rudeness and zero professionalism—was unacceptable. After 15+ years of loyalty, we won’t be returning. We’ll also be contacting Desiree to share...
Read moreSooooo, I've eaten here plenty of times. One of my go to places. Typically with great food & service. Today however everything changed. Our waitress was amazing. & that's about the only thing that went right. We ordered our food & waited, where served & ready to dig in. Yet, my friends chicken burger was a younge child size portion. So we asked for a replacement cause the bun to chicken ratio was terrible. So much bun, so little chicken. So, after being replaced the second sandwich came back burnt. so we sent it back wanting no replacement. Then, the ranch for our fries was horrible. And we love ranch. When brought up it was replaced , yet tasted the same. Turns out "someone accidently mixed it with sour cream & possibly a little bit of blue cheese" . Wait what? No. So whatever. Then we could hear the "chef" talking very loud about our table & our preference & what's do we expect. So that just irritated myself. I boxed up my uneaten burger & asked for the check to leave. Where we where charged double for an appetizer then we where a few days before. The manger came to check on us. And i expressed my concerns. I feel its very unprofessional for a chef to speak about their customers. Especially in a open kitchen where we are sitting just a few feet from.. needless to say we paid our bill and left pretty upset. Wellllll, I just sat down to eat my burger. I ordered it medium well, and well. I received a burnt burger. So burnt, the burn taste takes over the entire. So here a waste for an pricy burger that...
