Jaime's Hut — Restaurant in El Paso

I’m leaving this review because of how the cooks/waitresses responded. I ordered a Gordita plate and my mom a caldo de rez. When we got our plates and tasted the rice it was nasty, it was rotten. We told the older lady that took our order that our rice was rotten and she only took my mom’s rice plate back. Since my plate was left behind we told the main cook that my rice was also bad and he responded “pos no se lo coma” like obviously not 😂🤡 then my mom explained that my rice was bad too (so they can also take it back) and the cook responded “quiere que se le cambie el plato” and my mom answered “pos creo que si” so they eventually took my plate back and gave us different rice but honestly I didn’t eat it because I was already disappointed with everything and that rotten taste was left in my mouth. I just ate some of the gorditas. 1. We were not rude even when the cook answered us like that, 2. We were the only clients in the restaurant so they were not busy, 3. the main cook did mention to the other lady that he was tired and I totally get that I work too and with customer service. We will never go there again because we were treated as if we were the problem. A simple apology and attentiveness would have been nice but they didn’t apologize and acted like if nothing happened. Even when I went to pay they didn’t say anything but they did ask if I wanted to leave a tip and I said no. I always tip but this time I genuinely didn’t want to, because of how they handled the situation. I’ve come here since I was little but unfortunately won’t be coming here again. Horrible service! The people will not approach you at all none the less make you feel welcome. Stood there with 2 other people in the middle of the diner and in front of the cashier waiting to make a to-go order and there was employees charging other people and they saw us in front of them and no one even approached us!!! Everyone gave us eye contact but one cared to ask if we had been atteneded and we were right in front of them!! Theres an older lady who i feel has an attitude i had to ask her two time before she remembered that i ordered two lg menudos to go. To top it off they are STINGY! For a large menudo they give you only 1 bread for a large!!! What is it for a small then, half of one?? I ordered a large because i wanted two breads since it only makes sense. Service was alright, for the drinks you had to pay for each refill you get and you can’t bring in your own drinks so that sucks. While they were cooking, I noticed nobody was using gloves which is pretty unsanitary, and when our plates were brought out, the guys’ hands were pretty dirty, food was also cold, not great quality. Also, the restaurant was kinda dirty, and they barely started sweeping everything when we came in, keep in mind we were like the only ones who were there to eat.
