Tried this place last night after a local said it was the best in town, hands down. After reading many reviews we couldn't wait to try the Tortilla soup and Chicken Enchiladas Verde. I travel to Mex about 40 times a year and eat tortilla soup everywhere I go. This version was the best I've ever had! The smoky chipotle flavor puts it over the top! Lots of chicken, and no skimping on the avocado garnish. You must try it! The enchiladas were a bit of a let-down, for a couple of reasons: First, the dish was comprised of 3 EMPTY rolled tortillas placed on the plate and then TOPPED with a hearty portion of shredded chicken, peppers and cheese. By very definition it is misleading to call this "enchiladas" as the words "filled with....and rolled" are part of enchilada definition. The flavor was good but not great. The chicken tasted like plain poached chicken with zero seasonings. If not for all the flavorful peppers, the dish would be very bland. The beans were outstanding but very small portion. The rice was awful. My daughter and I both detected a strange "off" flavor that we couldn't place. Something about them tasted "old" or rancid. Inedible. The chips and salsa were excellent. We chose to eat at the bar instead of continuing to wait for our table. We were only given the red salsa and had to wait a while to get their attention to try the green. Both are delicious. The red in particular is very unique. The margaritas were ok but weak. Would rather pay more to have more than a trace of liquor. Perhaps bartenders could offer a "fresh poured" version for those that don't want the weak one from the pre-made containers. Overall we enjoyed our dinner and will definitely return when in ELP.

I am originally from El Paso and have never tried this place. I can see why I never did. For so much boasting about this place the experience for my wife and I was subpar, horrible. At the beginning it was nice when we were greeted and taken to our tables. A bit later the server takes our order, mole enchiladas and cheese entomatadas for me. After a while we see that people that got there after us receive their orders. After around 30-35 minutes read this again, 30-35 minutes the server decides to check on our order!!! She returns and says the kitchen lost the ticket and to remind her of our order again which we did. I do understand mistakes are made but what was unacceptable was the fact that when the order came it was wrong!!! The cheese enchiladas had chicken in them,I did not want chicken in them not my preference the flavor combination with the combination of veggies was not to my taste ,the flavor was bland! Why was nothing done to resolve this???? Take accountability from your own mistakes and to something to remedy the situation; if something were done then and there this review would be a positive one! All I ate was just the beans and the cheese! I did NOT drive to this place just to eat beans! Here are pics for your reference. The 1 star is for the mole enchiladas that my wife liked but besides that she was not too happy about making us wait and not doing something to compensate or remedy the situation. If a member of management knew about this we would've appreciated something to be done to keep your stars up. For people visiting in the future, if you come to El Paso choose somewhere else to eat. In a scale from 1-10 I give this place a 4

Previous trip to L and J’s was outstanding, the best I have had, eating in the restaurant. To-go order warrants removing all praise and stars. My family ordered curbside and to pay inside. We waited outside while my father went inside after twenty minutes to pay and pick up (that was the time advised). It was not ready so he sat down next to the hostess stand and waited. After another twenty five minutes… total of 45 minutes he checked with the hostess and said it’s been over 45 minutes, was I forgotten about? She said to hold on, went to the kitchen and came back with the bags. We asked how long they have been sitting there for, she shrugged, said who knows and walked off, no apology. The food was cold, the queso dip came out in one chunk, the shape of the container, when we reheated it. We had to microwave all of our meals. Very disappointed that the ball was dropped and our food was forgotten about. Disappointed at the rudeness of the hostess and disappointed at the food. I feel there is definitely a difference in quality AND quantity of food when you order pick up versus sit down in house. Pickup/curbside definitely gets the short end of the stick. We received maybe two spoons of rice and beans (not even a serving) in our containers, I opened the two green salsas we received… one was full, one was empty except for a splash of green liquid in the bottom. I would rate their to-go orders and service at a zero and can not recommend it at all.

Going back home means going back to real Mexican food in El Paso. It is truly hard to find many restaurants in North Dallas with an authentic Mexican flavor. The restaurant by the graveyards allows those of us who left to come back and quietly wrap our taste buds around THAT 915 taste. If you are from out of town, know that parking is a real problem and YES it's located next to a cemetery which Zac Bagans featured on one of his most scariest shows. Cashews mom and I left the monkies behind so we could have quality time with our taste buds and not hear one child tell the other "leave me alone." The restaurant has its bathrooms as you enter and know that it's a small place so large parties might have not only wait time issues but sitting together. They bring you warm chips and salsa so be careful to not load up with these items since they are so good. My big belly needed enmoladas, like enchiladas but the sauce has a sweeter chocolate base, with eggs and refried beans. Cashews mom needed her Chile Relleno burrito. The meal was awesome. The hang time waiting for the meal a bit long yet my tate buds were thrilled to be infused with that hometown food. If you visit, bring your Holy water and cross, yet you'll depart with a smile on your face.

My partner and I had a wonderful time here today. We came down from Alamogordo for the day, and are so thrilled about finding this little hole in the wall, "the place by the graveyard". The atmosphere was on point, the music, the art, even the location and outside of the building. Edgar, our server, gave us exceptional service. We had our drinks and chips and salsa within seconds after ordering them. Their salsa is BOMB! The food came out MAYBE five minutes after that, if not less. The plating was vibrant. Man, THIS is the Mexican food I've been looking for for years, the kind of food I've been missing for so long. My partner loved his steak burrito, and I stuffed as much of my combo plate into myself as I could. Edgar convinced me (not hard) that I needed desert, and he brought us a wonderfully garnished piece of tres leches. Needless to say, we were in love. My guy went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. We got treated like we had been regulars for years, and with that kind of service you can bet your a** we will become just that! These guys have the dining experience down to an art form and I cannot recommend this place more! See y'all again soon :)
