My family is new to the area and went to Julio's since it was close to where we live. We went during Sunday lunch hours. Restaurant looks nice inside and out and we were seated after a short wait. It was busy, but not full.
Food: My family of 4 ordered Chicken Fajitas, Tacos Camineros, Long Chicken Flautas, 2x cups of Tortilla Soup, and one of the kids decided to go for an authentic experience and had chicken fingers. The tortilla soup was thin and tasted like plain old chicken noodle soup. The flautas were really crispy but absolutely flavorless; unseasoned shredded chicken couldn't be salvaged by dipping in guac or salsa. The tacos camineros have absolutely delicious flavor but the way they are served with the meat spread across four layered corn tortillas is stupid: doing so rendered the first three tortillas unable to be picked up. The tortillas had dissolved and had to be eaten with a fork. Fajitas were pretty standard. No issues. The chicken fingers were fine.
Service: up front, we've eaten in many different places across El Paso over the past few weeks, and the service overall has been really, really good. However, not during our experience at Julio's. Our server messed up the drink order, and the aforementioned chicken fingers arrived about 15 minutes after everyone else's meal (not necessarily the server's fault, but there didn't seem to be any hurry on their part). Drinks (to include water) went unfilled the whole meal despite the server walking past several times; we were never offered refills or asked if we wanted anything else. Overall, our server seemed to be more interested in goofing off and socializing with other servers than taking care of customers.
Overall, our experience at Julio's was disappointing. Given the amount of other restaurants in El Paso, we'll weigh our options when deciding if we want to return to Julio's, or if we recommend...
Read moreSo my mother and I decided to go to Julio’s for lunch. We have had pleasant experiences prior to this visit (which is why we chose the establishment). We were seated very fast, but to be honest the service was awful, we had a distracted waitress, who would barley came to refill our drinks, and seemed distracted and distant. And to boot, the food was mediocre at best, the queso fundido w/ chorizo, was more grease than cheese, it was literally swimming in it. Plus my mother ordered coffee and it was cold, also on the rare occasion that she did refill our drinks there was little to no ice in my iced tea. The pork tips were bone dry, and the arrachera steak was cooked to hell, there was no flavor due to the fact that the meat had been burnt to a crisp. And 2 entrees, an appetizer for 60$?! What a rip off, and my mother recognizes good service and tips accordingly. It was a shock considering that we have had excellent experiences prior to the incidents that I have explained to you today. Plus, when we exited we told the manager that the service was terrible, to which there was no reply, but the cashier just laughed at us nervously. There was no, “Oh, I am sorry to hear that” just silence. This might be a lunchtime fluke, but it is safe to say that we won’t be wasting our money here again. Really look into the people that are working during lunchtime, there was barley anyone in the restaurant, and still our waitress...
Read moreVery bad experience ordering take out here. I placed an order for three plates. When I got there the order was not ready and I had to wait. Afterwards the guy read the order to me and I paid. When I got home one of my plates was wrong. I had order a flauta plate and instead got a greasy looking meat with nothing else. I called and let them know what happened. So unprofessional from the start of the call. I could hear them just talking among themselves when I was told to wait for them to find my order. I don't think they even looked for my order. So I was told I could go pick it up the flautas and I let them know I couldn't sinc I live in Vado and it was late already so I didn't want to drive all that way back. I had to ask if I could just get a refund. Reluctantly she said they would refund and when I asked what the amount was that I would get refunded she said she wasn't sure (first clue that she never looked for my order). So it's been more than 2 weeks and never received the refund and I called and she told me my bank had rejected that refund. What makes no sense but I still checked with my bank to make sure and they never tried to refund me. The manager who I talked to this first time and this last time claimed her name Is Marbella. So triple check everything before you leave because if they get your order wrong or probably make any other mistake on your order you are never...
