Peter's German Grill is unexpected and in a good way. After two visits I can give this place my endorsement: I highly recommend Peter's German Grill.
The menu is very simple and very limited. But, rest assured my friends, what is offered is quite good. The Schnitzel and Wursts are great quality and very well prepared. The pastries and breads are superb. I wish I could have spaetzle, knodel, or sauerbraten. But Peter IS the restaurant. This is a one man operation. He does it all, from the daily prepwork, taking the orders to cooking. He has no other employees I am aware of. And he has to manage the business. And let's not forget that he bakes breads, cakes and pastries for sale. To take home and order for events and celebrations. Peter is delightful in that peculiarly tutonic "everything just so" way. Maybe some find it to be off putting or fussy, but I find it to be authentic and charming. Peter knows what he wants and he will not settle. That is why his...
Read moreNow I am not German nor do I pretend to be, but when I walked into Peter's for the first time today I felt truly at home. Absolutely adorable decor, like your favorite aunt/uncle's house; and a cozy atmosphere, like a warm blanket. The food was exceptional, everything is homemade and made to order. We ordered two Jagerschnitzel's (fried cutlet with mushroom sauce) and we could hear the chef pounding out the meat to make the cutlet as soon as we sat down after ordering, a definite good start. As far as the flavor: it was authentic, the cutlet was perfectly seasoned, and above all incredibly delicious and creamy with the mushroom sauce smothering it. The potato salad included with the cutlet was the right mix of savory, sweet, and salty; and the bread was warm, pillowy, and soft.
I really do not have enough praise for Peter and this little store of his. I will definitively come back, and I cannot recommend this place enough....
Read moreWe were REALLY excited to try this place as we haven’t had authentic German food for a couple years. The interior was very quaint although the seating was not plentiful. We ordered a number 9 and a daily special (brat and soup). We had assumed it was a made to order restaurant so we were bummed to hear the microwave dinging on and off. The jagerschnitzel was bland and a bit chewy. The mushroom gravy tasted like it was from a jar or mix. The brat was okay. The red cabbage tasted from a jar. The potato salad was the highlight and quite good. Fresh. We tried a couple desserts. They were a good bit dried out sadly. Likely from being in the frig and not wrapped. We had tried the orange cream cake and Black Forest cake. We bought a couple items from the store area. We were pretty disappointed in with the food although it was decently priced. We wouldn’t...
