So I decided to go and take my mom out to a delicious and different restaurant and we decided on Timo's Restaurant. As we entered the cool breeze from the air conditioning made me realize that this place was going to be comfortable on a hot day. We were greeted with a smile and to go sit anywhere we choose. The smell of this place was so good I had to see what was on the menu. When we sat on our booth we were greeted by this very friendly and courteous waitress and without hesitation I asked if they had ice cold lemonade and Sprite soda for my mom and they eagerly brought it to and boy was it refreshing. We took out time to look at the menu. So many choices. We decided to start off with a Medium and Large Shrimp 🦐 cocktails and man they did not disappoint. These glass goblets were ice cold and heaping with whole pieces of shrimps and chunks of celery and onions and cilantro and cold and tasty cocktail sauce with a tangy flavor. They were served with a lemon halved and a couple of packets of salty crackers. That was delightfully devoured and on to the next menu item. My mom decided on fish tacos and I decided on a Black Bass plate and man this plate was imence the fish was freshly made and still sizzling. I swear it was going to jump off my plate and swim away. It was accompanied with some warm rice with corn and a small salad. I knew I couldn't eat it all so I tackled what I could and took the rest home with me. My mom's Fish Tacos was another story. They looked like they had been made earlier and they reheated the same food. I guess it must of been someone else's plate and they didn't want it and returned it to the the cook and was given to us reheated. So I asked the waitress if I could please have a freshly made new Fish Tacos plate and they gave us a freshly made plate with hot fresh Fish Tacos. The thing that made me cringe was the plate we had returned to get a new one was given to another person and that disappointed me so that I had to speak up and say to the family that was given that plate to please have it thrown away because it was bad food that was given to us. I couldn't see how these people run this business and mess with there food. But I was satisfied with the outcome and we both got what we ordered. Fresh seafood and good times. Please visit this place but be aware of what you ordered and make sure it is freshly made. Don't hesitate to ask. They will be happy to help get you good food. I highly recommend this place and I hope they learn from this mistake. But I highly recommend this place they have plenty of seating and high chairs for the kids and they are wheelchair accessible and if you need help they will be there to help . Parking in the other hand is a bit tricky and you need to pay attention to where you park or your vehicle will be towed away. Please visit this place and enjoy great Mexican seafood and delicious Mexican plates. I highly recommend this...
Read moreI've driven past this place many times, but it was always when I had to be somewhere else, or they were closed. I wanted seafood, but not fast food, so it was time to try it. It's on the end of a shopping center, at the corner, with only a few spaces in front, and a bit of street parking along the side. Since parking is limited, and a bit of a pain, while I got lucky with a spot in front, you may have to park further down and walk.
It isn't much to look at on the outside, and not much better on the interior. I know they are trying to do a nautical theme, but the decorations and paint are old and dated, the walls are cluttered, and in desperate need of a refresh. It was bigger than I thought on the interior, and there are plenty of tables. I've seen it busy, usually during lunchtime, but I was there mid afternoon, so it was fairly quiet.
The service was okay, the staff were friendly enough, but I sort of felt ignored by my server. After she took my order and brought my food out, I never saw her again, which was disappointing.
The menu is big, and I personally think it's overloaded with more non-seafood items than necessary, for an allegedly seafood restaurant. I'd estimate that only 25% of it was actual seafood dishes, with the remainder being traditional Tex-Mex. Sadly they seem to have fallen into the trap of many a restaurant, trying to have something for everyone, and it just ends up being overwhelming. I actually had a hard time finding something interesting, because all the seafood items are buried within the rest.
After reading the menu that is the equivalent of "War and Peace", I settled on the fish enchiladas with red sauce. The dish was better than I expected, but still mostly mediocre. The enchiladas themselves were excellent, the fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly, the red sauce had enough spice to be interesting, but not enough to overwhelm the natural flavor of the fish. The rice and beans were meh, both needed some additional seasoning, they weren't bad, just not very exciting.
The price wasn't bad either, if I recall correctly the plate was around $14, so...
Read moreThis place had great customer service and my coffee was delicious. Unfortunately the fish ceviche was not good. There was a stout taste of the fish, huge chunks that were mushy and was not very cold. It had no taste other than fish. The lemon it is suppose to be cooked in was either a minimal amount or it was not a fresh batch of ceviche im not sure to be honest but there was no lemon taste. The avocados were half black i just couldn't eat it. We spoke with the waitress she apologized and she kindly removed my plate asked me if id like anything else my kids loved their burgers my wife enjoyed her bass and i enjoyed good coffee and some toasted bread with some jelly. Even tho it was not my best experience my family enjoyed it and that's what counts. Ill be back for...
