Checkers — Restaurant in Elgin

The night manager is a problem. The staff will be nice to people offering refills and he will say we can't do that a minute after they walk away. Also another employee who said he was not working and was in a conversation with me a computer things said he would be back and the manager said that he was working and he needed him for closing. I was answering that guys questions about building pcs. Also this place never has a working restroom ever. There is a sign that says it is always out of order for the entire time that I have been coming here. I am sure cook county health department will want to check that out because you can tell that they mop the floor of the gas station with the same water they use to mop the bathroom and it smells horrible. You can smell it when you walk in the front door. Today when I came in all the chairs were up for the first time and it was midnight and that has never happened before. I am sorry I was talking to that employee while but I couldn't help but ask because they were playing video games and talking about emulators and I told them I had built my own. First time trying checkers and loved the food, the young man that took my order was patient and polite BUT‼️ they desperately need health and sanitation training 😩 they touch EVERYTHING including money with the same greasy gloves they prepare your food with! They don’t use hairnets and let me tell you 😳one of them had his hair so messy it seemed like he hadn’t washed that hair in months plus he was wearing his jeans mid butt which means he was probably pulling up those jeans allowing his gloves to touch gis underwear and OMG I almost threw away the food so I had to distract myself 🤪because I was starving and I love to eat

Now I gotta find me another Checker’s location where they do a better job of hiding the nasty stuff they do to my food.

Checkers you really deserve ONE STAR for sanitation alone but I will give you a chance to fix it!! I’ll check you out again...

I was hesitant to try this location since it is in a gas station but I've been wanting to have Checkers for the first time and it's the only only location in the area. I am glad I did! I walked in to the station to do takeout and the young gentleman working the counter were very pleasant. The food took a good amount of time to be ready but that means it was all fresh and hot 👍 when I received the food from a third person, he even asked me to double-check that he had put something in there. I did a bag inspection for all items and then headed home. 30 minutes later finally got to eat it and everything was very tasty and still hot but not as crunchy, to be expected.
