Finally stopped in for the first time over the weekend. It can be tricky to miss because though it's on a busy intersection, there's no entrance to the place off those intersecting streets. Just know you have to enter through a separate side street!
The decor has a rustic lodge style to it. Lots of interesting statement pieces. There's also a fireplace, which I really enjoyed. It was giving cozy cabin.
I ordered the Mexican Mule which was pretty good, though it was missing the tajin and lime wedge. And the Pineapple Mule was missing the cherries. No big deal though. Overall the drink was good and the prices were reasonable.
I really liked the buffalo wings, aka what they call "moose wings." Could have used a bit more buffalo sauce.
I also tried their margherita pizza and it was okay. It has little to no sauce, so it was more of a cheese pizza with tomato slices. Also I don't think the cheese was actually mozzarella?
Overall a solid spot for a casual dinner or lunch but not sure I'd come back. There's a sign out front letting you know that if you use a debit/ credit card they'll tack on the processing fee to your bill. While I appreciate the transparency, debit/credit cards are the the preferred method of payment by many.
I don't carry cash with me and would need to take out cash to dine at your establishment just to not get charged the extra fee? It's a huge inconvenience to the customer in my opinion. I decided to dine in anyway but it's enough of a reason for me not...
Read moreMy family and I are not fans of Nick's Pizza. A couple of years ago, Nick's was in danger of shutting down. There were multiple pleas to "Save Nick's" and dine at their restaurant. After eating at Nick's (to show my support for a local business), I quickly realized why they were in danger of shutting down. The pizza simply wasn't good. We wanted to try something different so we ordered the Mexican Pizza - and Nick's version was far from "Mexican". Throwing jalapeno's on something does NOT make it a Mexican dish. The ground beef didn't even taste seasoned (although the menu says that it is)! At least add some cumin to the ground beef mixture to give some kind of semblance to Latin cooking. And to top it all off, we asked (twice) when ordering to omit the black olives from the pizza. When the pizza finally arrived, lo and behold was an entire pizza topped with BLACK OLIVES. To Nick's credit, however, they did offer to comp us another pizza (not the one they messed up, but they would have given us another one), but by then we were hungry and didn't want to wait anymore. We paid for the pizza.
The mess on the floor from the peanuts was one thing (not a fan), but a mess on my plate is entirely a different story. I have not visited Nick's since. Normally I wouldn't be so quick to completely write off a restaurant based on one visit, but with other great pizza restaurants in the area, I never felt the...

I'll agree with other reviewer, great location and building. Its sad their food is mediocre.
I was here about a year about and their pizza was good, I wouldn't say hey I'm really in the mood for pizza let's go to Nick's but it was good.
So I was back in the area and stopped in again today, nice waiter Brenden (not his fault the food is underwhelming), quick service.
Onion blossom was fine, a little overdone. I wanna know why I'm asked how I'll want my burger cooked if it's a preformed grey slab to begin with? If I'm wrong on this then they just have crappy tasteless meat. It was topped with a tangy sauce, onion ring and fried bacon, probably trying to help the burger and give it some flavor but all you got was a little heat and no other flavor.
Other person with me got the beef sandwich, not surprised they recommend it on garlic bread and top with Italian season(trying to give the tasteless some flavor), meat has watered down taste pretending to be au gus, cheese had no flavor and was on cheap garlic bread. Both served with undercooked unsalted fries. They desperately need to fix things in the kitchen. Need better quality food.
Go across the street to Portillo's for sandwiches or Lou Malnati's take...
