White Pearl Restaurant — Restaurant in Elgin

I have been wanting to try this place out for quite some time especially since it's only about 10 minutes from me. I ordered the combination Paad See Euw and Thai Iced Tea with milk. Both were good and the food had amazing flavor and the squid was tender which is hard to do, it can easily become rubbery if cooked to little or tough if cooked to long not to mention the large portion size. I ordered for pick up and the man at the counter was very friendly, I did accidentally walk off with their pen when I signed so if he sees this I'm sorry about that lol. Some of the other reviewers even by other local guides have almost all 5 star ratings to places they've been and I find it hard to trust those because to me 5 stars is exceptional not every place including a Taco Bell can be 5 stars (last name Ellen) but this place absolutely deserves the 5 stars that I rated it. Such a nice place. The food exceptional and very tasty. The owner / manager didn’t think I would like what I ordered so he recommended something else. Same ingredients. Different spices and sauce and noodles. I loved what he brought me. If your in doubt. Ask him. Tell him what you like. He will make it. Even if not on the menu. The crab Rangoon is amazing fried rice is good. You can add what meats or seafood you like to make it better to your liking. Place lets you sit where you like. And your served personally. Asked if Al was good. And given boxes to bring home leftovers All with a simple smile. Wish they played some music in the background. Really quiet inside...

When we first came in, we were underwhelmed with the decor. The tables were even a little rickety and needed cleaning. Then we figured, "what the heck," and ordered. The egg rolls were screaming hot and delicious, the pho was spectacular, the fried noodle chicken was amazing. Everything we ordered was delivered with precision and completely without extraneous fan fair or frills. I wouldn't take a dinner date or anyone I want to impress, but I'd come here again and again for the FOOD. White Pearl is a hidden gem for true foodies.
