KFC — Restaurant in Elizabethtown

This store has been remodeled since I was last here. Cashier was friendly, good service. The counter is improved as is the drink area. I had the buffet in early afternoon after the peak time. I was surprised to see the buffet well stocked during a slow period. Food was good as expected and all areas clean. New seating has replaced the old wobbly ones and nice appearance with the new decor. They also offer a senior discount.

The chicken seems to be smaller, younger animals are smaller and I assume cheaper.

My girlfriend was supposed to get a 2-piece meal that included a breast but obviously was not a breast, a back. She didn't want to make it an issue, so she ate it anyway. We never want to irritate someone who can tamper with food.

Sign up stating carbonated beverages unavailable. We heard an employee explaining on phone to someone that co2 shipment didn't make it.

We hadn't been here in awhile because they kept dining room closed longer than any place in town. Probably staffing issues as they seemed to be running a skeleton crew today.

I didn't ask if they still offer a senior discount and we didn't get one.

Next time we will just pay a little more and go to Cracker Barrel.

05-23-2023 I had business in town, so I made a trip to KFC during a slow time, early afternoon. I always liked the buffet during pre-Covid years. Sadly, they no longer have the buffet.

Store continues to have employee shortage and has a sign on the counter that states such. I had a short wait, no one else at counter and only one table occupied.

When I placed my order, clerk said they would bring it out. Five minutes later, it was announced the Big Box was at the counter. Perhaps I misunderstood.

Last time there, chicken pieces were small so I ordered 3 pieces. Today, 2 pieces were normal size with a tiny wing. Meal was good. I did notice that she didn't if I wanted original recipe, but luckily I did.

This particular location is (at this time) the worst fast food place I have ever visited. I stopped in there and a customer was lecturing a manager about how poorly things were for him. I stepped beyond him to the counter. I could hear him while I was ordering. I just figured he was being a Richard. I order the the grilled chicken and was told they were out at the moment, if I wanted to wait 18 minutes they would give me an extra side. Quick logistical thoughts of if I can get to Popeye's and back home within 18 minutes didn't seem likely. This "Richdard" behind me was saying something about 3:00 and now it's 4:00 bla bla bla. I place my order and I think I better ask for a receipt. The young lady didn't know how to print it so she asked for help. Receipt in hand, I tell her I will wait in my car expect me back in 15 minutes. 15 minutes of Finebaum later I go back inside, start collecting my napkins and hot sauce and wait within eyesight of the front counter. At 4:40 my wife calls to check on me. I tell her they had to make more and I decided to wait. At 4:48 I see a bucket of grilled being made ready......finally. Receipt in hand I am ready. The bag gets set on the counter 12 feet away from me. It gets grabbed up by someone else. Perhaps that wasn't mine, but I know I had waited longer than the lady who took the bag. Perhaps my order was so long ago that it fell off the list. Receipt in hand I approach the counter. An immediate look of oh no stared back at me above the receipt. They gave my food to someone else. Long story short, that guy wasn't being a Richard. I got refunded. I was offered to have my meal anyway after I was refunded and given a voucher for the same meal free in the future. UPDATED 2/21/23 NO MORE WINGS The employees and manager at this location are incredible people, always!! However, the decisions made by KFC to update the menu have me perplexed. A chicken restaurant that doesn't sell wings?? I opted for a spicy chicken sandwich because the new wrap, chicken & coleslaw, doesn't sound appealing to me at all. Has the breading changed? It was different & not as good as I remember it. The chicken breast was stringy and dry. There were about 6 pickles with spicy sauce on both sides. It was gross. Today will undoubtedly be my last visit to any KFC. I only went there for the wings. Maybe they'll bring them back again in the future.

Dine-in is not available. Use app to order & pick up inside or at the pick up parking location. It's a pleasure to engage with happy employees. The energy here was top notch. I've visited this location several times over the years & it seems to consistently improve. The inside was really nice. I especially loved seeing a community board posted inside.
