I've got three words for you "Spuds Encased Hash-brown"! What? I've never heard of those but apparently Gail has been making these for 20+ years. Just when I think I've had every breakfast combination, something amazing like this comes around.

So let me explain. They make omelets here which seems normal until you get it encased in a perfectly cooked crispy hash-brown. My delicious omelet is being hugged by a potato blanket. I loved it.

This was the first meal I had for 2014 and I was glad I did. We were staying in a nearby hotel where the free breakfast was well free. We didn't want to start our year out like that. So we checked around and were lucky enough to find that Gail's was open. How great was that! Open New Years morning in the middle of a snow storm with unplowed streets. If that isn't a sign of perfection, then I don't know what is.

I called in our order and I was told to give them 30 minutes. When I walked in at 30 minutes our order was sitting on the front counter ready to go. I paid and was on my way. The inside looked nice and cozy. There were a few people eating inside but it was not crowded at all. Hey it was New Years morning, so I'm sure many people were still hanging at home.

These amazing omelets are called Spuds. I ordered the original spud which was bacon, onion & cheese. You can not go wrong with an original. It was really good plus I was having bacon in 2014. Happy New Year to me. I would definitely order this again. I am not usually in this area but it is worth a trip. My wife had the veggie version of the Spud. She really liked it also. The spuds came with a choice of side either toast or pancakes. We went pancakes but were so stuffed we could not even eat them. I know I was stuffed like an encased hash-brown.

So if you are in the area looking for something that is out of the norm for breakfast, then get in here and try one of Gail's Spud creations. You will be happy you did. I can't wait for...

Been eating here on and off for over 15 years!! Consistently amazing! HUGE ... no BS... HUGE omelets with a unique selection of ingredients way beyond the norm and if you choose, they have this unique method of rolling the omlete in potatoe spuds (hashbrowns) and then finished on the grill. Comes out really cool and tastes amazing! I'm here today, for the first time in several years... first time since they moved to their new location... and absolutely still consistent and delicious and still excellent, warm, friendly service. Even Gail's husband is still right there greeting all the guests. Having an excellent egg soufflé with apple sausage and Gouda cheese! Well done and not dry. Also having a pumpkin pancake on the side. It's light, and not overly sweet, nor overwhelming in the pumpkin flavour! Nice to find a place that's able to be highly consistent over so many years!! Congrats...

My boyfriend and I discovered this excellent restaurant the day we left Chicago, otherwise we would have loved to enjoy lunch and dinner here as well! But the breakfast was by far one of the best we'd ever had. This menu was huge, the prices were right on point, and everything sounded and looked delicious! The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, you could tell there was a diverse mix of locals and first timers. At the end of our meal, my boyfriend (jokingly) asked for a picture with the owner Gail herself, who was working and helping alongside the other employees. She graciously obliged, and upon finding out we had just enjoyed our first meal at her restaurant, she gifted us with a free loaf of her homemade banana bread! We absolutely will always return here whenever we are in the area, and a must for anyone passing through or new...

I’m glad Google Search listed this Resturant. Looking for Breakfast & Open-Now early on a Sunday , I noticed the high Rating. I sat at the counter and ordered their Signature Spuds Omelet and chose the Homemade Banana Bread instead of toast with Coffee to wash it down. Being a good cook myself, I always look for something that they are proud of (and a dish that I can’t make). I was VERY PLEASED with the Omelet. The presentation, temperature and Taste were all perfect. The Banana Bread was also grilled to give it a nice crunchy exterior to contrast with the moist interior. Excellent Job! It was obvious that there were lots of regular customers. The good food and friendly service must be normal. This place is way off my regular route though Chicago, but I will make it a point to come back.

I had the crab of chowder soup. Which it's a tomato base with vegetables and crab imitation. I thought since it was a chowder it was going to be creamy like the clam chowder but it wasn't. I guess I should ask for now on but if you into tomato type soups that's good for you. For my meal I had the 3 pigs skillet. It was okay. The square potatoes are not a good choice for a skillet. They are plain, no flavor and just take most of the skillet. The ham, sausage, and bacon were flavorless as well. I think they need to put more flavor in there. First cup of coffee was chill which I like but taste like decaf. Waitress are very social and fun to talk. Very nice and calm atmosphere. You can even here the cooks talking lol
