This past late March marked the very 1st time trying a Johnnie's location and I was pleasantly surprised on how good the beef was. Been wanting to try this place for more than a couple of years now but whenever my family & I are in the Heights, it's because my wife wants to shop and dine in Mitsuwa. It was spring break for my just turned 9-year-old son and we were coming back from Legoland and Woodfield Mall in nearby Schaumburg so the timing was right. Food overall is really good at still reasonable prices, venue kept clean and the service.......felt like I was being rushed but at the time they were busy and probably don't usually get a noob customer who doesn't know the menu yet. It's hard to say what's the best Italian beef I've ever had but Johnnie's is really good. Obviously you've got some popular chain competition with the likes of Al's, Portillo's and Buona along with hundreds of other Chicago style grills that feature Italian beef but they are really good here. I don't live anywhere near here, live up in NE Lake County in Beach Park but if ever in the area again; could definitely go for some scrumptious beef!

Well me and my friend wanted to eat Johnnie's and this is my first time at the Arlington heights location. I usually go to Elmwood Park location cause it's closer but since of concerns on handling food now a days I suggested to my friend we go to the Arlington heights location because t there's no washroom in the Elmwood Park location. My friend took my advice to take the Arlington heights location since he didn't know this existed either. Anyways it's okay. The Italian beef sandwiches are small and they don't come in larger sizes like Portillo's. I had a Chocolate shake which was a "meh" ok. Nothing special. They did make a mistake on her orders. I had the Italian sausage combo and my friend wanted the Italian beef with sweet peppers unfortunately they didn't separate it where we could tell whose order was what. I have to spend again or during a second round of Italian beefs because he was not satisfied. Other than that it's okay. I still like Portillo's more in my opinion. Quality went down and their are limited choices on their menu. Used to be good back 10 years ago. Now it is just "Ok".

Once guy from out of state told me How lucky I was when I told him I'm from Chicago just because of Portillos. We all love our beef, that is Italian beef with sweet or spicy pepper single dipped or double dipped if you love the au jus. I'm regular to Portillos because their beef is one of most convenient due ti their many locations. I'm comparing Johnnies to Portillos just because I hardly find Al's(Original) or Mr Beef around me. Johnnies took me by surprise. I was 10 mins from them all this time and I just made my quick grab of beef because I figured why not? First of all, flavor is there. It's savory witg less sweetness than of Portillos. Johnnies spicy pepper(giardiniera) was really spicy! Which I like and they are much generous than P's. Lastly, they don't have bigger size choice, but comparing P's regular beef cost about $7, Johnnies are in about $5.50 which also I think is plus. So if you haven't made your stop here at Johnnie's, you are definitely missing out your beef adventure.

Johnnie's Beef is absolutely amazing. A Chicago original, this place serves Sausages, Hot Dogs, and Italian Beefs. These are the restaurant's staples and they do not change the menu or recipes. The fries that they have are super skinny and when they are fresh out the fryer, they are amazing. I personally love them and sometimes I will go out my way if I crave the. They are so different from other fast food places. If they have been sitting however, they then taste like you typical soggy fry.

The prices are absolutely amazing! Before Covid the Hot Dog Combo was $3 and the Italian Beef was $4. Now the Hot Dog Combo is $4 and the Italian Beef was close to $7 (I was there yesterday, lol). I personally like the hot dogs...I love hot dogs! Johnnie's Hot Dogs are literally beef! Like, they do not taste like those other hot dogs...I even think they are better than Portillo's Hot Dogs!

This particular Johnnie's location is on the corner of Arlington Heights Road and Golf Road intersection. It is a small shop with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very nice and friendly. The service is super fast (unless it's busy/peak time) and the food is always hot when you get it. It's fun to be there because when you pay, the cashier kinda just yells your order to the employees standing in the kitchen behind you and it's like Portillo's coding for their menu items. Lol, so like you would hear "Double, hot". This could be a hot dog with two wieners on one bun with hot peppers! Lol

But, overall I recommend Johnnie's! If you are in the area, definitely check it out! Plus, they were on Food...

If you are nearby or planning to visit this area of Arlington Heights, you must visit this Johnnie’s Beef for some quality and unique sandwiches they have. This place is run so efficiently. Their place is so huge, clean, neat, nice, bright, decent, and well-maintained. You will be absolutely surprised by the great atmosphere inside the place. The whole place is so enjoyable and welcoming. The menu of this restaurant is so big, they have a huge selection, and a large variety to choose from. They have sandwiches, fries, pasta, desserts, beverages, and also beef selection that is so incredibly delicious. Such a really great place for a quick bite. Their Italian beef is so fresh, perfectly prepared, and fantastic. Their fries are so crispy, flavorful, and on point. Their sandwiches are phenomenal and lots of people really love it and keep coming back just to grab some of it. Johnnie’s Beef is really a hidden gem in this area. The only issue I’ve seen is the long lines and some staff that is not paying attention to some customers. But still, this place is really amazing! Their staff is still extremely fast and got the orders correct. I am really impressed by the food at this spot. I really love the ambiance of their interior. I would really love to come back here again soon when I have some free time. See you soon guys! Thank you for such a wonderful service and awesome experience! Please keep it up and more customers to...

I usually don’t like to give bad reviews but man this place deserves negative stars if it were possible. I live right across from this location in Arlington heights and have purchased several meals from there on many different occasions. The food is always yummy and comes with a great portion size, but the staff working there are all so rude and unwelcoming both in person and over the phone when taking orders that it’s turned me away from ordering from them indefinitely! I have gone in on several occasions either alone, with my boyfriend, and with a female coworker of mine and all 3 times I received very poor service. Another time I was there to pick up an order I had placed over the phone and the lady who gave me the food, gave me the wrong order and then proceeded to tell me I was lying even though I had my e-receipt in hand showing otherwise. When I asked for the correct order a second time she rolled her eyes and said it would be 25 mins for a hot dog and fries when typically they only take 3-5 mins even on a busier day. When it was time to hand me my food, she tossed the bag on the counter and said absolutely nothing as if I had done something wrong for asking for my food I already paid for. Overall this is NOT the location to eat at and I’d definitely recommend going elsewhere with your hard earned money. Zero outta zero stars, yall need a whole new...
