Jan 13, 2023 @ 5pm-ish. Customer service was excellent, friendly and on point professional! At that time in the evening the wait for our order did not take long with several employees asking if our food was prepared.😁
After driving home a few miles, we unpackaged our meal order: Two Way Dinner: Tri-Tip, Chicken Breast, Green Beans and Mac'n Cheese. Another Two Way Dinner: Brisket, Chicken Breast, Beans & Rice and Mac'n Cheese. All of which was still hot.👍🏾
To our dismay; we only received one dinner roll, the beans & rice had crunchy old rice, the chicken was dry and the brisket was 70% mostly fatty pieces with only 30% edible meat (see left side of container in photo - those are the fatty pieces).🤢
We're wholly disappointed in the quality of food that we received. This makes at least the third or fourth time we have received mostly fatty pieces of brisket serving. This may have been the norm back in the Great Depression but this is the year 2023 and we paid a nominal price for this meal.🚫
If I wanted a serving of brisket that contained mostly fat, then I would have attended someone's family reunion in the southern states and then crawled under a bush and had a heart attack with the possum roadkill.😵
Fatty pieces of meat are disgusting and a customer shouldn't have to pay for restaurant servings containing this grossness. We won't be ordering any more food from this place ever again.💯
And get some peach cobbler during the week instead of...
Read moreAlthough Mother’s Day is supposed to be all about your mom, I was secretly jumping for joy when my mom suggested that we order BBQ (one of my favorites). I was even more excited when she mentioned that she wanted BBQ from MacQue’s. As a little backstory, MacQue’s has always held a special place in my heart. Back when the restaurant was located on Power Inn road, I would frequent the establishment to order a hot link sandwich generally in between classes when I was going to Consumnes River College (early 2000s).
Since I’m a creature of habit, I was tempted to order a hot link sandwich for good time sake. However, I decided to take a walk on the wild side and try something new. Being that it was Mother’s Day and we placed our orders late into the day, they were sold out of trip-tip and a few other items. Therefore, I was forced to order something that I wouldn’t normally order, but turned out to be delicious…a hot link sandwich with brisket!
The sandwich with the already applied 50/50 sauce was good; however, when I applied the small cup of hot BBQ sauce to the sandwich, it truly came alive (flavorful)! Similar to my experience back in the days at the old location, the customer service was great and I treated like a cousin supporting family business. I will definitely make a return visit in the near future (early in the day to ensure that inventory is intact) to try their...
Read moreUpdate September 2025: ordered $107 worth of food - 2 full racks of ribs and a full chicken. Very good value and everything was cooked to perfection - everything was tender and moist and perfectly flavored. A small suggestion for management: consider being more generous with the barbecue sauce. I asked for two small sauces to accompany my order and you couldn’t give it to me for free.. leaves a bad taste to be nickel and dimed on a large order. I understand if customers are abusing it but I think my request - two small sauces - was within reason to not be charged extra.
Original review: Our family absolutely loved our lunch here. The four-meat platter was very reasonably priced and was absolutely delicious - all the meat was tender and we loved how it was not overly salty to begin with. This allowed us to better enjoy the tasty barbecue sauce. We got tritip, brisket, ribs and chicken and they were all great !! The ribs especially were outstanding and the chicken (dark meat). The staff and manager were very friendly and helpful. We look forward to our next...
