Hacienda Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Elkhart

Absolutely disappointing experience. I’ve been coming here for years, used to work at this location, and I came back to town and had THE WORST experience ever here. I wish I could say that I was surprised, but this has been a long time coming ad their standards have fallen every time I return.

It took 10 minutes to be greeted (we sat in the bar seating area section), server walked by our table multiple times after telling us she’d bring more chips to collect checks and count her tips, and the food and service was not up to standard.

After my parents food was likely ready to be brought out (wet burritos), the server came back to tell me and my friend that the kitchen was out of steak (in both of our orders) and so we had to find something else to order. 5 minutes after we order new meals, my parents food comes out, plates barely warm to the touch still (why we believe they were done when she came to tell us they were out of steak). By the time they have finished eating, the new food comes out. They had to comp my food truck tacos that I got all chicken (yet they gave me every variety of sauce as if I had all the different tacos) because they were dry - the chicken, the tacos, and i had to pull the shells off of the taco rack they had warmed onto.

And then the manager obviously did not care that the entire experience was bad for us beyond the wait on the food. As soon as we started to express discontent, she shut down and could not handle hearing the criticism of the restaurant as a whole and wanted to blame it just on the restaurant “testing out a new steak” that they didn’t have enough of (on a...

First off I only am giving one star because the service from Jordan was excellent. The salsa the comes with the chips is just way too plain, it has no flavor except tomatoes with a pinch of salt. I had Jordan bring us guacamole(this was delicious). I ordered three chicken tacos and my husband ordered the food truck tacos. When Jordan brought my ordered the soft corn shells were uncooked, I had him get them toasted. Than once I put my tacos together (which I have never had to do at a restaurant before). Oh I didn’t mention it was canned chicken. It was so salty and watery. I only ate because I was so hungry. The sauces that my husband got with the food truck tacos were gross. This was the worst Mexican restaurant we have ever been to. Plus without a tip it was over $30!! I would not recommend it. The table was dirty where the girl sat us down and the girl just wiped off with a dry napkin. I had to go in the bathroom to get toilet paper and soap to wipe the table clean. I should have known by the dirty table and smelly bathroom that the food wouldn’t have been I to any standard. We drove all the way here from Michigan for a concert and we not pleased with this restaurant at all. If you don’t have to find another location. Besides Jordan the staff was rude and unprofessional. I really want to give them 5 stars. I always used to. But ever since COVID started and we started using the carryout service, it's been less-than-stellar. This is the third time I've ordered ahead for pickup, and it's the third time I've had to wait at least 15 minutes past the scheduled pickup time. I ordered at 7 a.m. for 5:30 p.m. pickup. I arrived at 5:25 and they said it wasn't ready and took my name and cell number. No biggie, I was early, and it was Friday night, I'm sure the kitchen was busy. But I watched as others came in behind me to pick up their orders... The employee would ask if they placed the order online, the person would say "no, I called it in on my way here". They'd be directed to go pay for the order, and they'd come back and their food was ready. Three customers, same scenario. I ordered and paid 8 hours ahead of time and got my order almost 20 minutes late. Same thing happened the last two times. The food was fine. The people out front were friendly. But I can't give five stars when they can't get the order done on time even with a full day's notice. And it wasn't just because they were busy because they were filling other orders as they were called in. We adjusted, people waited patiently, dinner wasn't wrecked, but I know they can do better and I feel that if I'm willing to plan that far ahead the restaurant could try a little harder to meet the...
