I think Patrick needs to review his employees. On Friday 11/17 With the price of bullion closing at $1993.90 I sent my wife in with two 1 gram argor-heraus gold bars in TEP packaging to sell to buy a purse she wanted. Upon arriving she was told by their gold buyer that those bars have less of a value than others and offered an insulting price for them. I'm not sure if the employee was lying or just ignorant. Anyone that Stacks silver and gold knows a gold bar is a gold bar is a gold bar as long as it is .999 and in mint condition. I'm not sure if this was because it was my wife that went in and he thought she was any easy mark or if the employee just doesn't know what they're doing. Save yourself a waste of a trip and go to Nunamakers. Spot price on all primary Market fractional gold. I am also going to report this to the BBB as it is deceptive business practices and a lie. Facts are facts. I am shocked that they would employ a person to purchase gold who is that deceptive or so unknowledgeable. Maybe if you have some stolen gold and need some drugs Hopman's would be the place to go. If you stack silver and gold definitely don't go here!
Update to owner response: $128 is what she expected not 1500. I'm not sure you are familiar with the situation. Who would expect 1500? This is a strange response. And your $60 offer was insulting. For fractional bullion spot price is paid. Which is what I received at Nunamakers! She also inquired about having a wedding ring made out of my Heritage silver passed down from my great grandpa. She was told that's too expensive and to buy a ring there. Curious what your response is to that? I'll just go to impress Jewelers and have my custom ring made. Also I stand by my statements. You have a dissatisfied customer and you threaten them with a lawsuit? This makes me want to double down I am definitely going to contact the BBB. It's funny the more I talk about it to people the more horror stories I hear about your jewelry store. So go ahead and sue me the truth is you're either Shady or ignorant or both which is a type I choose to not do business with. I hope you do lose business for my review that's why I posted it. And your response just shows everybody what I'm saying is true. Also as most people know never trust a business with all five star reviews they probably paid for them in one way or another. Either with a discount or a...
Read moreSave yourself the aggravation and go the mall. It would probably be a better experience. I recently purchased a vintage engagement ring, and had it sized by them. I required my ring back by a certain date. The date I needed the ring was not arbitrary. At this upcoming date, I was taking my girlfriend on a small vacation getaway. As one can imagine, the engagement ring was to play a prominent role. The company was made aware of said date. I gave them in excess of two weeks time. After two weeks had passed, I inquired about my ring status. I was told repeatedly that my ring was at that moment "being worked on". This continued for three days time. The date of our vacation came, and I was told it was still "being worked on". This being the case, the ring was unavailable. Therefore, I had to cancel any plans involving it. I have contacted them via website. As of a week later, I have not received any message back. In this instance, one would think a store would see the obvious value in providing good service. Since an engagement ring typically means at least two more rings would be purchased. One wedding band each, for the bride and groom. Not to mention any other future fine jewelry purchases (e.g., necklaces, watches, etc). So you can see the complete indifference the staff demonstrated. This company chose to write off hundreds to thousands of dollars in potential sales. I always try to support local businesses. In this case I received nothing but problems and heartache. I could have taken my business to a generic mall jewelry store. I can not say if I would have gotten worse service, at a corporate store. But it seems there was a very good chance it would have...
Read moreIf good customer service matters to you like it does to me, you may want to shop elsewhere for your jewelry. I always try to do buissness locally as it's good for our community. This is why I chose Hopman Jewelers, even though I had never done buissness with them. I wanted a peice of jewelry cleaned before I went out of town. They quoted me a price& said I would have it back the following week, the day before i was to leave. They failed however, to communicate between themselves or to me that their jewler was on vacation the following week, so when I called the day before I left to pick it up, they told me it would be another week. So much for getting it back by the quoted date& I ended up going out of town without it.
While the peice looked good when I got it back, I was disappointed that I had to ask for a discount. The lady rolled her eyes at me when I said I should get one, and attempted to tell me that the same amount of work went into cleaning it, whether or not it was late. Then she offered 5 dollars off just to shut me up. I took the 5 off and honestly, that's all I was looking for was a slight adjustment and an acknowledgement that it was not within the time they quoted me. Instead they gave me the 5 off& the eyeroll. All it would have taken was an attitude of gratitude to turn me into a repeat customer but instead, they just made me regret spending my money with them
Update: July 2025 Upon seeing this review, Hopman did reach out to apologize. They sent a small hand...
