Fox Hops Brewery stands out with personality from the moment you walk in. We loved the logo, and the interior walls are filled with an eclectic mix of local charm—think deer mounts, banjos, and all kinds of fox-themed art. It gives the space a warm, quirky character that sets it apart from your average taproom.
Their kitchen turns out classic pub fare like burgers, wings, and brats, which pair well with a wide range of beers on tap—from easy-drinking blondes and hoppy IPAs to a refreshing gose.
The most memorable beer of our visit, and probably our entire trip down to WV, was easily the Mountain Music - a beer brewed with Ramps. Ramps are a a wild onion/garlic plant native to the region. It had a bold, savory edge and felt like it was made to go with a plate of fries or wings. Definitely a unique pour, and while it might not be for everyone, we appreciated...
Read moreWe stopped in on a whim. No idea what they had as we hadn't researched or even looked them up. Just Googled breweries near me. Thebeer was great, exactly what I expected from an amber ale. They have others just my choice. Wegot the fried pepperoni topped with banana peppers. Wasn't really sure what we were ordering, not what I guessed, nothing I'd order again but we did eat it all. Their brats, don't ask just order and enjoy. The sweet pepper Cole slaw, I'd never think to do it but how can I get the recipe. We live 5 hours away it's too far to come regularly. We will definitely be back. And the owners were present , polite, hospitable, talkative but not intrusive, very small town hospitality. If you want fancy , high fallooting not for you, if you want genuine, hospitable, caring, great beer and comfort food it's a must. Just go and rate it...

Our server Morgan was great and we also talked with Sam, the owner. I might not have chosen their PB&J burger on my own, but I am glad I took Morgan's advice and ordered it. I'd for sure order it again!
One thing is if you're from out of town, Google Maps says to turn on to Russell Street, but it's in fact Bow String Ln. The location of the drive was accurate, just not the name. It said we would be turning onto Russell. We figured out our mistake pretty quickly and turned around. Might be a little trickier if it's at night.
I liked the beers I sampled. I tried the ramp beer, and though it did not taste very much of ramps, it just wasn't my favorite. The other selections I had were really good.
Fox Hops has a good vibe, and I will definitely return the next time...
