Went for a great steak, but found the restaurant, food, and service were all mediocre.
The restaurant wasn't terribly busy even for Saturday night. There were open tables but we understood because of Covid. We were put on a list and ended up waiting 40 minutes to be seated. We hung out in the casino while we waited. It was somewhat irritating to show up at the counter at the time we were told to come back, to see they had seated someone else before us even though we were next on the list. The very front table is where the person was seated. That front table that had been sitting empty the whole time we waited.
The restaurant isn't aged and unique, it was grimy. The carpet was filthy and the wood on the table was sticky. The wall at the head of the booth needed to be scrubbed.
Salad was delivered quickly and was decent except for a few dark green slimy leaves. Blue cheese dressing was great. The house veggies were really good.
The prime rib was terribly disappointing. Definitely not a $30 piece of meat in cut, size, or flavor. The AuJus was flavorless and had a deep layer of fat floating on the top. The meat was tough and grisly. I ordered the 8oz and my husband ordered the larger size but the portions that came to us were the same size. Left more than half of it there. I'm somewhat picky but my husband also left more than half of his prime rib as well.
Our waitress was nice enough, but forgot our rolls and let our cups run dry. We have crossed JR's off of our list and will try somewhere new next time we...
Read moreGreat food, burgers are simply the best. Deserts are oversized and it's more than enough to share for two. Service depends on, who are you going to get as you waitress. Some are excellent, and will take very good care of you. Will get your order right, offer you some hot rolls with butter and cream cheese spread, ask if everything is ok, bring the salad, and by the time the salad and rolls are gone, the main course is ready. And it's just the way you ordered it. But sometimes, Oh my! The order is wrong, you have to ask for the rolls, and for the spread, and when the order arrives it's not even the right thing. We ordered two different burgers and specified that we wanted no onions on both of them. We ended up with two identical burgers with onions. And no fries... even though we asked for them. Apparently the salad became a substitute for the side, not an additional side that we asked for. The waitress said that she couldn't get us the fries when we asked for them. After explaining that we want the fries as additional side and we will pay for them, she brought them out and said that she will not put them on the ticket. I was so lost. At least she tried to make it right.
Make sure the waitress reads your order back to you with all the changes you want to it, before she takes it into the kitchen.
Overall, great food, amazing desert, excellent service, if...
Read moreWe have stayed at JRs for years. Unfortunately, this experience has left us unwilling to return. At check in, the front desked stressed the importance of having a "Do Not Disturb Sign" and had us initial a notice saying room service started promptly at 8 and would walk in without a sign. When we arrived to our room, the carpet was covered in black sticky stains, coffee, but no coffee maker, black sticky goop on the mirrors, someone elses pills on the nightstand, no plate in the microwave to warm up food, stains all over, that I hope were juice, but looked like blood, mold or boogers on the walls and no "Do Not Disturb" sign. When we asked for one, as this was made out to be very important if we wanted privacy, they handwrote one and rubberbanded it to our door. We were appreciative, but still it seemed odd. We have loved JRs in years passed, and was disheartened to find it in such...
