I’m not entirely sure why there are so many high reviews of this place. This is easily at the top of my list for dirtiest restaurants with the rudest owners in the DMV area.
Atmosphere: This place is DIRTY. The tables and menus are sticky. There were several empty tables, but none of them had been cleaned. The bathroom has black mold growing in the sink, the walls are falling apart, and the light switch has what appears to be years of built up dirt from people turning it off and on.
Service: Walking in, the older man (maybe owner?) looked at us, we waived hi, my Korean girlfriend bowed, and he simply looked annoyed - first red flag. The older lady/waitress looked extremely busy, but the guy waited for her to greet us, clean off a table and seat us (5-10 mins). After being seated, the lady was hustling and gave us menus and water, but it took another 20 mins before the older man came by to take our orders. My girlfriend tried talking to him in Korean, but he ignored her. He was in such a rush, he took her order, then walked away when I started putting my order in. He hopped on the phone, and started telling someone to “hurry up!” multiple times in Korean (so he does speak Korean!).
Food: Their food prices are high, between $18-$35 per meal. Also, they were out of basics.
Ultimately, we cancelled the order the man had taken and we walked out. The combination of the lack of hospitality the older man showed, the lack of staffing, the dirty tables, the dirty walls and bathrooms, and some of the food being sold out was incredibly off putting. There’s plenty of other options within a 5...
Read moreWent here for my daughter’s birthday dinner because she loves korean food and it is just like what we have with my family get togethers. I had never been here before and didn’t know what to expect. The portions are huge and we shared everything with four people (two kids and two hungry pre-teens). We got the Kimchi Pa Jun, dukboki (no cheese or fish cakes), Chicken Ban Ban in Korean sauce, bulgogi (comes with a bowl of rice), mandu, and the spicy sushi combination (3 rolls). I couldn’t believe how large the portions were! Everything was so flavorful and definitely reminded me of eating with my extended family when we had large get togethers. In addition to our order, we also got banchans (sides) of kimchi, potato, green beans, bean sprouts, and tofu. The server (maybe owner?) was so sweet and nice and reminded me of my aunts. The location is not right on 40 like the other restaurants in this area, but it’s not far off. The location wasn’t super busy with people (Wednesday night), but they seem to do well with takeout orders. Will definitely be back for some traditional...
Read moreRandomly found this place while looking for a late night meal on a Saturday night. They specialize in sushi and ban ban chicken and also offer other Korean dishes. It was pictures of their fried chicken that caught our eyes, but upon sitting down, found out they had already run out for the day. No biggie, it was around 10 and they had let us know ahead of time so that was understandable. Boyfriend and I ordered the bossam and corn cheese. I liked how they cut the bossam into bite size pieces and it was a more interesting take of pairing it with kimchi instead of the usual quick pickled cabbage. The cheese was extra stringy and corn was super sweet. Both portion size was good. Overall, the place wasn't bad. It was clean, food had no complaints, and the service was nice. I just think they are missing that "wow" factor. Wish we could have gotten the chance to try the chicken though (maybe that will be the "wow).. Our waitress suggests that we go in earlier and that's what I'm also going to suggest...
