Whatever happened to the way Hazel’s used to be? My wife and I came in around noon, found a table and seated ourselves like the sign stated. We were greeted and asked for our drink orders. It was fairly busy but it seemed like the rush was on its way out because after about 5 minutes it cleared out. Then another 5 minutes went by, as we contemplated leaving, our drinks finally made it to us.

We put our orders in, mine was a country fried steak with sunny side up eggs. When I received the plate, it looked as if the cook was just slopping the food around. The steak was splatted on top of the eggs, busting the yolks open, so it was extremely runny and messy. If there wasn’t enough room on the plate for the eggs, steak, or hash browns then a 2nd plate should have been used. I didn’t have time to send the food back so I ate it anyways, unhappily at best.

As we ate, the guy who must be tasked to fill coffee and clean the tables came by literally every 2 minutes. He interrupted me eating 3 times to ask about filling my full coffee mug, in about a 5 minute time span. He was also extremely loud, not sure if he was hard of hearing but I could literally only hear him at times. It was not a pleasant experience while he was on the floor.

Finally, and this is enough for us to never return to this establishment again, was how we were given the check. The older, shorter, grey haired lady who from what I gathered either owned or managed the restaurant, decided a new 4 top table that was next to us was worth her attention more than we were. The lady literally threw the check on our table, with no words or offer of a box or anything, and turned right around to the new table putting on the nicest face. That was the most disrespectful display of customer service I’ve ever been dealt, and even more disgusting coming from someone who should be offering the best service possible. I normally tip very well, but this type of behavior did not warrant one.

I used to frequent Hazel’s with my late mother quite often, so this was such a sad site to see. I almost took the time to talk to the gentleman sitting at the counter who claimed to be the owners father or husband, to see what he thought of how my wife and I had been treated. But instead I’ll let this review speak for itself, and there is a great chance that we will never be coming back to Hazel’s Family Restaurant ever again. Because if that is how they want to treat us, we don’t want to...

Decided to try this off the beaten path mom and pop style diner while in town. Unfortnately I can only give one star. The only good thing about this place is the size of the portion you get for your money. It was a massive amount of food. Other than that this place is a no for future visits. We decided on what we wanted to eat (We took food to go) After we got to where we were stopping to eat dinner we realized we had no spoons for our soup (clam chowder....which was the only thing that taste decent...husband said it almost taste like Progresso chowder from a can) but I was always taught to be prepared on trips and had a pack of plastic utensils in the glove compartment. So we moved onto our main meal and found that neither one of us recieved the green beans we ordered. A little disappointed but its not the end of the world. I also ordered a side of coleslaw, one bite and I almost threw up. It had a chemical taste to it. My husband (who will eat almost anything) took a bite and threw the rest of the container away. Now really disppointed in lack of quality and attention to detail we try our potatoes. Yep you guessed it. Horrible and bland instant potatoes (Hubby called it cardboard paste and he wasnt far off) and what they called gravy can only be described as tasteless brown goop. The rest of our dinner was completely seasonless. Not a lick of salt or anything else on it. Hubby ordered the shrimp and it was previously frozen/out of a box kind of shrimp that was super greasy. Reading over the reviews it looks like this place might be a good breakfast spot but we will not be returning to find out. Not happy at all with this...

Hazels on Cleveland St has the best breakfast to eat! I have to be picky due to food allergies, but they had plenty my eyes could see. Pancakes and waffles I could not try, however, with Hazels skillet , there was more than meets the eye. Golden Hashbrowns cooked to perfection, a pat on the back to the cook with this selection! A warm gooey runny egg sat on top with peppers and onions It really hit the spot! With melted American cheese , bring these flavors together I was brought to my knees oOoOO geeezeeee Wow so deliciously good, I would have had seconds if I could My mind wondered as we sat in the back seat Every bite, I felt the pain of defeat As I could not finish the over stuffed plate So much flavorful yumminess I just couldn't debate My stomach was filled about half way through Here comes defeat, what could I do My wifey got sausage gravy over Hashbrowns We were treated as if we both wore crowns Our waitress was amazing and had great energy As she spoke of the birds in her attic flying free Great atmosphere and not too crowded as we chose our spot Hazels ... Again...Came out on TOP Big thank You again for the hospitality and warm smiles You really do go...

Quaint Mom & Pop, seat yourself diner. Reasonable pricing, good food. Coffee was tasty for a diner, and even gave our guest a to-go cup of coffee when leaving. We were not from the area and found this local diner on google maos, it was well worth stopping here. Only reason not giving 5 stars- They DO NOT have Soups, Chili or Mash Potatoes (with dinners) on the Weekends. This definitely was a disappointment and was not noted no the menu. Ladies bathroom is not ADA/disability accessible, very narrow to toilet.

We had breakfast here today and it was very good. Good serving sizes, good prices, friendly staff and good service. We are from Pennsylvania. My wife says her food was so good she wants to drive the 2hrs back here tomorrow for breakfast again. As you can see by the photos, my omelet was cooked perfectly. (No brown spots on the eggs.) I was very happy. I recommend getting a little bit of sausage gravy on the home fries.
