If this restaurant gets organized, they could do well. We went to The Sunday on a Sunday and we were met with a 1.5h long wait, which was made possible by inefficient seating, short staffing, and a frenetic pace of service. The hostess was also the only waitress. There was a constant line out the door from the time we arrived to close.
Lows? Many. We waited over an hour, decided to make a stop at a local coffee shop to kill some time, and came back just to wait another 30 minutes. Their waitlist estimate was inaccurate. After seating and ordering, it wasn't long before the food began coming out, but after nearly 30m of waiting we realized they completely forgot a dish - the first on the order slip.
5 of us ordered tater tots (2 ways), bulgogi bowl, croffle, soyrizo hash, lemon ricotta pancake, and country fried chicken Benedict. All the items were well-executed, simple dishes, but generally under-seasoned and flat. The Benedict was missing and we were offered a discount on the dish, but when the bill came, it wasn't honored. We paid anyway to make quick business of our exit.
The food was good, a half step above average, but it was outweighed by the frantic service, low inventory (nearly a quarter if not more of their menu was out), and...
Read moreI was very impressed by my meal at The Sunday. So much so it makes me reconsider the ratings for some other restaurants I have recently dined at lol. The atmosphere of the restaurant is perfect for a morning meal- cozy, small dining area aesthetically decorated with colorful lights and an incredible hot sauce wall, and soft jazzy music. The service was great too, friendly, attentive.
I had the kimchi bulgogi tots. These were incredibly flavorful with a nice I am guessing kewpie aoli topping the dish... heavy and generous in its serving size but a genuine flavor bomb. Also tried the soy garlic wings which are very authentic to the texture and flavor of wings I have had in Korea- very authentic in preparation and taste I feel. The only thing that would elevate it further would be to offer the whole bird quartered and prepped, as I have seen wings often done in Korea. Additionally had the loco movie which was comparatively more plain in its flavor but that perfectly paired with the other two dishes. I l loved the meal and look forward to trying more...
Read moreI’m a regular here. This place is bustling with crowd during the weekend, both Saturdays and Sundays, so I usually expect quite a long wait time. However, their service and food never disappoint me and my family. Considering the fact that this restaurant is only about 3-4 months old, the food and service you get from this place is top notch and delicately delicious. It’s fairly small-sized restaurant with some outdoor seatings and the indoor dining is recommended for those who pay attention to small details like interior decor, wooden furnitures that were customized by a part-time carpenter (I had to ask because of such a fine finishing of the works), and the cozy atmosphere and the vibe you get to enjoy with the staffs. If you’re in a time crunch for quick stop, look elsewhere. Allow yourself enough time to fully experience the food, drinks, and the company of friendly staffs of the Sunday. Btw, the ramen photo I’m sharing used to be a beta menu at one point and no longer available at the moment but I dearly hope it comes back because it...
