My wife and I ate here the other night, and it was OK, overall. Wish the sauces had more "oomph," as they were a bit bland compared to some of the great local Thai places we've tried (missing something I can't quite put a finger on).
We had the Drunken Noodles and the Pad Thai, and both were a bit disappointing. In both dishes, the cook didn't even bother to separate the noodles -- The were stuck together in a clump that looked like it went straight from the package, to the water, to the plate, without even being stirred.
Spiciness was right-on, though. Thai places usually ask how hot you want it on a scale of 1-to-10, and every cook seems to interpret that differently. We asked for five, and got the level of heat we were expecting.
On the appetizer front, we went with the Fresh Spring Roll, which was really good, and came with a nice sampling of three delicious sauces. Also got the grilled mushroom, and that was a huge let-down. It was so tough & rubbery, it was nearly impossible to eat off the skewer.
Next time, I think we'll spend another ten minutes, and head-down to Solana Beach, where roughly the same money will get you a much...

I particularly love the noodles, especially the Pad See-Ew with pork, and the fried rice dishes. These are my go-to choices when I want to test a chef’s skill, as they require cooking at high heat to achieve the perfect "Wok Hei"—that toasty, caramelized aroma that comes from high-heat wok cooking. The chef here never disappoints. Pass!
The open and bright atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely. For a lighter meal or when I'm on a diet, I often order the shrimp salad and larb chicken. Both are very tasty with just a hint of heat (you can request how hot you want), yet so refreshing.
Despite having a small staff, the service is fast and polite. They accommodate my special requests, which I greatly appreciate (just don’t go overboard and try to completely change the menu!). I never once got a rude service like some "shady" broken English review suggested (from a...
Read moreThree strikes against this place. First time, I ordered curry take out. Curry is liquid. They put the curry dish only in tin foil. By the time I got home, the curry leaked out in the bottom of the plastic bag and my car seat. Second time, I ordered curry and asked them to put it in something other than tin foil. They got that right. But, we found that the side of rice was missing after we drove all the way home. I decided they weren't really good at take out so I would just dine in next time. Third time, I went there and placed my order to dine in - they told me they weren't able to prepare the dish because they forgot to buy the ingredients. At the prices they charge for Thai food, they should deliver perfection. Each of my purchases was a disappointment and it all goes back to poor management. I'm a huge no...
