Wow. I used to think Home Depot cared about their customers. I no longer do and can’t support shopping there after years of spending mega dollars. I purchased a Husky 90” shelf in store and when I got home, prepped everything assembly. This item weigh maybe 200 lbs. I loaded into my car and then into my garage. I started to put it together and then realized that it appeared to be damaged when I got half of it together. I couldn’t understand why it was so difficult and started to look at it and realized what happened. I already cut up the box and put it in the recycle bin and since I was near half way, I thought I would take pictures and then go back to Home Depot Encinitas and ask for a store credit since what I purchased for $399.00 was clearly used and sold to me as new, and it was damaged. (See pics). When I spoke to the manager Mack Ruiz, she said you can bring it back and I can get a full refund. I had just managed to put it together over a two hour period, having to bend metal and make it work…and simply wanted a reasonable store credit. She offered me $50. I am so disappointed as a loyal long time customer (14 years). I don’t know if I will return but I encourage you to go elsewhere because Home Depot no longer cares about its customers, even when they are in the wrong. You choose. Home Depot is losing my business for two reasons: 1. Not doing the right thing and 2. For selling me something as new that was clearly used and not taking responsibility for it.

I just popped into the Encinitas Home Depot with a random list of plumbing parts and other fix-it items from my contractor. I had no idea what the items were or where to look so I showed my list and photos to Bob in Plumbing (Italian by way of NY). What a nice and helpful man who clearly knows his stuff. He got to work offering me a few size options to take home and try, and then he even got a ladder so he could bring down the 2 medicine cabinets I needed as well. Then a lovely gal named Bonnie rang me up quickly and efficiently and with a smile! And out in the parking lot a man named Mark immediately offered to help me load my car. I happen to be a woman in my 60’s and all 3 employees also happened to be more mature/older. It goes to show that life experience can be a huge asset because all 3 of these lovely folks would make me happily return to Home Depot Encinitas!

Went here for paint the service representative didn't want to help me very rude. I thought it was because it was a staffing issue more customers than staff so i ask for a manager to help me. I go back to the paint department and the same employee tells the white lady after me im sorry you had to wait and im here for you. So the issue was he didn't want to help a black person and he went out of his way to make sure i knew that by saying that while im waiting for someone who would help me. One hour for a can of paint to hear a apologies to someone who had no wait!! I cried in the store i felt like i was gum you step on. The lady at checkout wasn't suprised and apologized and i got a discount . Customers don't leave crying when your there to putchsse like everyone else. Home Depot should just post a sign blacks not welcome its easier tha n making customers cry.

I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding a recent experience that my partner had at the Home Depot store in Encinitas. He encountered a situation that left him feeling disrespected and undervalued as a customer, and I feel compelled to share my concerns.

My partner was attempting to purchase some something from the gate for a project he was working on, and while he was at the store, there were two other customers who were also I needing something from the locked gate. When those customers approached the Home Depot employee, they were promptly assisted and given what they requested. However, when my partner asked for the same assistance, he was met with resistance. Instead of receiving the product, the employee chose to take it to the front of the store.

This experience raises serious questions about the treatment of customers in this store. It is my firm belief that all customers should be treated equally, regardless of who they are or what they may need. The fact that my partner was denied the same service that others received is concerning, and it feels as though he was subject to unfair treatment.

Having worked in retail for over a decade, and running a business with him. I understand the importance of treating every customer with respect and fairness. In my experience, equality in customer service not only fosters a positive shopping environment but also builds trust and loyalty between customers and the business. It is disheartening to witness behavior that seems to contradict these fundamental principles.

I cannot help but wonder if my partner experience was influenced by factors such as racial profiling or bias, which should have no place in any retail environment. Every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and I believe that it is crucial for businesses to cultivate an atmosphere where all customers feel valued and appreciated.

I truly hope that the management at this Home Depot location takes this feedback seriously and reflects on how their employees interact with customers. A commitment to equality and respect will not only improve the shopping experience for everyone but also enhance the store's reputation in the community. If we can prioritize treating each other with fairness and respect, we can create a better...

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH FLOORING! PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIT MONTHS FOR FLOORING TO BE INSTALLED. We ordered flooring and were told it would be installed within three weeks. We called one week later and found out it was on back order (Home Depot neglected to call us and update us). Flooring finally came in and they still didn't call. We had to call for update. Then we dealt with JW Flooring's schedule which was 4 weeks out. So we continued to pay rent and wait our turn. JW flooring started demo on Monday. They were supposed to be finished by today (Dec. 8th) with the flooring and the demo is not even complete. We have been calling since Monday telling JW they were not going to finish by Thursday and they kept assuring us they were on schedule. After seeing that everything was not demoed by end of day yesterday, we called back and demanded to speak with a manager. The manager told us we would be lucky to have it installed by Saturday...which means we have to cancel the moving truck that was supposed to come on Saturday), cancel the cleaning crew and paint crew scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) and find a hotel room to stay in since our landlord wants us out by Saturday. To make matters worse, I have a three month old that I am trying to care for while basically project planning my own project. Furthermore, we have been tracking JW's time and they are showing up between 9-10am and leaving by 4:30pm. They are not even spending 8 hours at our house even though they know we have a deadline and know we are not happy. The manager was supposed to have a crew at our house at 7am this morning and a plan of attack to finish by late Friday night so we can move on Saturday. Still no call from manager with a plan of attack and so I had to call back again..... I am beyond frustrated and will never work with Home Depot or JW Flooring again. We purchased all of our appliances, re-did all of our flooring and were planning on remodeling all of our kitchen with them but I will be...

Firstly, there are a couple of significant issues with customer service. There is a very short Hispanic woman in customer service who consistently exhibits rude and unhelpful behavior towards customers. Her demeanor and attitude are far below the standard expected in customer-facing roles. Her daily attitude is poor and I know this because ive dealt with her on multiple occasions and I’ve seen her act this way toward staff and other customers. She needs to go. Additionally, there is another woman, in her 40s with blue eyes and dark brown hair, who is equally judgmental and unpleasant. These two individuals severely detract from the overall customer experience at this store. i hate coming to this store because of these two women. However, the men, across the board in customer service are all aces. However, there are bright spots among the staff. The woman managing the building and lumber department stands out as a hardcore, tough, and genuinely helpful person. She embodies excellent customer service skills and should arguably oversee the entire store. The parking lot leaves much to be desired, especially for an Encinitas location. “The workers” in the parking lot soliciting services need to take their business further south, and the amount of litter around the store significantly impacts its appeal. “The workers” make the store feel very unsafe, dirty, and un-welcoming. On a positive note, the garden department is exceptional and sets a high standard compared to the rest of the store regarding stock, nothing else. The paint department could use a lot of love. If it weren't for the regrettable behavior of the two women at the front counter, I would rate this store higher. If they were my employees, they would be gone. However, overall cleanliness and customer service need significant improvement to elevate this...
