The family tried out Bluebonnet city grill for breakfast this morning. It was our first and last time. We walked in, seated straight away (only about 3 other tables there so we were excited to potentially be in and out quickly with 4 kids under 10). We ordered 2 biscuits and gravy plates, a stack of pancakes, breakfast tacos, 2 orders of bacon, and 1 order of sausage for us and the 4 kiddos. We sat down at 10:20 and didn't leave until 12. It took an hour for our food. We were hungry and ordered straight away. About 30+ minutes after we ordered, while coming to refill our coffee for the only time, the waitress said they just started our food. By this time, my older 3 kids are complaining they're hungry and 1 year old is being super fussy, so I end up having to take the toddler outside to be courteous to other diners. Our food FINALLY comes out and it SUCKED. So bland. Not enough gravy for biscuits, flat pancakes, undercooked extra greasy bacon, microwave bland grits, and 1 coffee refill the entire time. As a former breakfast diner employee, I cannot wrap my head around what took so long, and if something has to be made fresh and will take extra long, please tell me and we'll pick something else so we're not all listening as my baby screams for 30+ minutes before our food was even "getting started on". I could've have made the exact same food better on my stove at home in less time. But hubby wanted to treat us out to breakfast, what a trick we got instead. Idk if this is the norm, but we won't be back to find out. Too bad. Call me a Karen if you want, but I'm just a tired mom of 4 who hardly ever gets to go in and sit down to eat, experiences like this morning are exactly why we barely try new places. I felt ignored by the wait staff because my baby was disruptive but like don't take an hour to make him some damn...
Read moreY'all go eat at the Bluebonnet City Grill...cause I don't want to see another small, locally owned, Ennis restaurant go under. It's down in the Plaza Del Sol shopping center. So I'm getting the word out there...its good food! Look at that Alaskan Salmon! Great crispy seasoning and cooked perfectly medium well. The redskin mashed potatoes were the creamiest, and they thankfully didn't just slop.steamed broccoli on my plate like other restaurants do, they seasoned it well. They baked potato soup was pretty good too, but not my favorite.
Atmosphere wise, they could have used some light music, and the floor in the back was super sticky, I think from residual glue from maybe pulling the old floor up and the humidity? Wait staff was good and pleasant.
I would have rated it 4 stars because of the atmosphere needs, but that salmon and mashed potatoes were so good, I figured that was the most important thing and deserving of 5 stars
By the time I left, the restaurant was filing up nicely so I'm glad to see people...
Read moreMy family and I came to the cafe to grab a bite. My mom is a fan of American catfish and simply wanted to ask if they serve that or swai (aka Asian catfish) the Owner came out and was very rude. She said " I understand you have a question about our food" very abrupt. My mom politely asked if it was swai or American catfish. She told us it was the swai and my mom thanked her and she returned to the kitchen. Our waitress was nice though. When the food came out my chicken was small for the price and I hardly had any fries on my plate, plus the fries were room temperature. I asked for fresh fries and the waitress gladly brought me some more, still not hot but not as bad as the first round. My poor mom's food was so lousy, with sour and I mean SOUR mashed potatoes and the Mac n cheese had a strange, sweet, chemical flavor. Not sure what the heck happened to it. Overall not the best experience but not the worst I guess. Won't go...
