Mood- Our Vices
We all have our vices that help us to cope with life. Some productive some not so productive. For me I don't know if it was because we grew up poor, but it is food. If I can't fly to my physical happy place, I want to eat something that brings me happiness and peace. And I have certain foods that stand out. 1- pork Belly. Which brings this place to the forefront.
Upon entering was quickly greeted. Asked if we had any questions about the menu. We didn't have any. You order at the front counter, pay, find seating, and the Food is brought out to you.
We opted for a few things but they were not out, so we opted for the Pork Belly Rice Bowls, and a bag of those in house pork rinds. Now dang it, that rice bowl was spot on. The flavor was completely on point. I was in my happy place.
Interior is decent. There are several seating arrangements. At each table there are paper towel holders and sauce to choose from to enhance your experience. Music was playing in the background.
Would recommend- pricing for the quality and portion we received was worth it. The customer service was very friendly and hospitable.
Location is Serene/ Spencer-...
Read moreOkay- you'll read about the quality of the meat in all these other reviews. Trust me- it's solid. What I'm here to review is the pork rinds and coleslaw. Pork rinds? Yes. Pork rinds. Fresh-made fluffy pillows of fried fat. These were bought on a whim while checking out, and let me tell you- I was not disappointed. They are lighter than air and seasoned perfectly (I opted for spicy, but they also have plain salted and sweet BBQ). They don't come in a resealable bag for a reason, folks. So much better than anything you can find in town.
So coleslaw... I'm a fan. But I'm rather selective and hate when it's dry and under-seasoned. I want the sauce! The guy at the counter told me it was worth the impulse buy (as I already ordered enough food for myself to feed a small family). It's mustard-y and vinegar-y, almost like a South Carolinian and Korean made a baby and this coleslaw was the lovechild.
I got the brisket bowl but should have skipped the rice and noodles and went straight for the brisket (literally melts in your mouth and not overly smokey- I hate places that love smoke).
Well done,...
Read moreI CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH!! This place beyond words has the best food you can hope for. The price is very reasonable for the quality fasho!! If you like yum… across the board… on every item on the menu then this is your new go to! I am not a fake reviewer. I am a simple guy who loves great food. Go there!! Enjoy!!
Be sure to find their Roberto’s Like condiment bar. It’s certainly an upgrade to customize your flavors.
Did I mention their side menu? I’m not even a fan of Mac n Cheese. But theirs is yum. The side rolls yum for sure as well.
I am making an edit to my original review right now. I believe they need a new marketing plan. This place is kinda slow when I go there. Customers should be out the door… around the corner with people waiting for their food.
Can you tell I’m a fan?! I just want them to be successful so they don’t close my belly from the good good.
Even the Tuna sandwich is best you can get...
