I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful breakfast at The Chef's Hat, a hidden gem in town that left me truly impressed. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the warm and inviting ambiance, which set the tone for a memorable dining experience. One of the highlights of my visit was the exceptional service provided by our lovely waitress, Emily. Her genuine smile and attentive nature made me feel like a valued guest throughout my entire meal. Emily's knowledge of the menu was commendable, as she effortlessly guided me through the various breakfast options, providing insightful recommendations and answering all my questions with enthusiasm. As for the food itself, The Chef's Hat certainly lives up to its name. The menu boasted a delectable assortment of breakfast dishes, each prepared with remarkable skill and attention to detail. I opted for their French toast, and it was a true masterpiece. The cozy and elegant atmosphere of the restaurant, combined with Emily's attentive service and the exceptional culinary offerings, created a breakfast experience that exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail and passion for their craft showcased by the talented chefs at The Chef's Hat is truly commendable. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting The Chef's Hat for breakfast, and I highly suggest asking for Emily as your waitress. Her genuine warmth and dedication to ensuring a memorable dining experience will make your visit all the more special. Prepare yourself for a morning of culinary bliss, where every bite and every interaction leaves you with a smile on your face. The Chef's Hat, with Emily as your guide, is undoubtedly a breakfast haven worth visiting time and time again.

I stumbled across this restaurant by accident, but my dinner was so fantastic that I believe it may have been “divinely inspired.” The wait staff was warm and welcoming. I had the “crab stuffed shrimp and boursin cheese stuffed peppadew” for an appetizer. To say it was divine would be an understatement. It was one of those rare and delightful seafood dishes where you could both appreciate the texture, and savor each unique taste and zest that went into this dish within moments. The peppadew served as a wonderfully bold and robust contrast to the perfectly stuffed shrimp. And then came the “vegetable alfredo.” What sold me on ordering this dish was the variety of three different mushrooms included (shiitake, crimini, and oyster). My goodness, they contributed to the robust, slightly earthy (in the best possible way), and subtly creamy taste and texture. To put it simply- it was everything I always wanted in an American-style Alfredo, but never experienced. To conclude: this is a James Beard award caliber restaurant. The dishes are both visually and tastefully sensational. My idea of heaven is eating here again and again for all eternity.

We were there this past weekend for dinner, and ordered the Tomato Basil flatbread, the first time they brought it, it was all burnt. We requested it to be re-made, this time, very first bite and there was a piece of hard plastic which almost felt like it broke a tooth, we informed our waitress and she was a bit lackluster about, said a very apathetic sorry and said she will inform the kitchen, we said we are not going to eat the flatbread, do not need another replacement and asked the manager to be informed and her response was 'the manager is also in the kitchen'. She returned and said what she can do is not charge us for the flatbread, very unprofessional, we were not expecting anything more but were also not going to pay for the flatbread anyways. We finished the other food we had ordered, paid, and left. The manager did not even care to come out and talk to us. Hoping that no plastic was ingested from that one bite which may cause any internal issues. They definitely do not care, as they may feel that, we are tourists and probably not going to come back anyways. Never going to visit again and not recommended.

We were referred by neighbors who have a cottage in Door County. SO WONDERFUL! The quaint building with beautiful views of the water. Our plans didn't allow but it has windows everywhere and we will be back to watch a sunset there I imagine its is a gorgeous intimate moment. We decided to start off with the smoked brisket flatbread. A tender but crisp crust, a blend of a smoky brisket, hint of horseradish in a pesto sauce, blend of gooey cheeses (fontina, asiago, parmesan & provolone), with summer veggies (red onion, tomatoes, pepper & baby spinach). It was so delicious that when we down to the last two I hesitated when hubby said I'll take the bigger one. The waiter Ian was knowledgable, personable & very efficient. Who ever hires/trains is doing a very good job. I choose something light a Pear, Gorgonzola Turkey Wrap. PERFECTION - I enjoyed the honey wheat wrap (they offer gluten free options too 🤗), the inside contains smoky turkey, walnuts, craisins, tomatoes, greens, and the unusual but delightful pears. Comes with a bit of crunch, smooth Gorgonzola cheese and a sassy raspberry vinegarette. I choose kettle chips for my side not greasy at all, crispy and just the perfect salting. A side of fruit was the perfect blend with little diced pineapple, cantaloupe melon, strawberrys, blueberries ~ so refreshing. My hubby enjoyed the salmom club he had with homemade potatoe salad. We still had time so tried desert SO GLAD we did! A not too tart lemon curd tart (came with 2 pieces) surrounded by raspberry's as a puree & tasting fresh picked full berries floating on clouds of whipping cream. YUMMINESS in everything and a completely enjoyable time! ... Just a trick to find as the shade trees hide their sign from the main road they are on 😉 but definitely worth the effort to find this gem...

My family visited this Chef's Hat at 10:30 AM hoping to eat lunch. We were told that lunch wasn't served until 11:15. We had no issue with this, so we just hung out at the beach across the street for 45 minutes and came back to get a table for lunch.

When we came back, we waited for them to seat our family of 6. They were very disorganized and asked us multiple times if we wanted to sit outside or inside.

Once we were getting seated, we were told by a middle aged worker (manager?) that they would not be serving lunch for at least 45 minutes. I let her know that we were already told lunch would be served at 11:15 and we had already waited.

This woman's reaction was to immediately begin yelling at my family and me. She yelled that guests were still ordering breakfast and the kitchen wouldn't be able to switch over to their lunch menu. She said (yelled) that we were being rude, when we had simply stated that we were already given a time by their staff for lunch. We quickly left and she continued yelling at us as we walked out the door!

This was one of the most bizarre restaurant experiences I've ever had. I would not recommend this restaurant. They do not deserve your business for the way they treat...
