I'm a coffee snob. I roast my own beans, own every type of coffee maker, and buy only the best coffee that I can find. Why am I telling you this? Because Leroy's Water Street Coffee is truly some of the best that I have ever had. The owner and his staff know how to pull a shot. They use some of the best beans around, they fuss over the process, and it pays off. On top of all that, the shop is inviting, and the staff is friendly. We visited once and were excited for a return...however, each of our return visits were met with a closed sign (during posted open hours). I do not understand how.. or why...a business would operate like this. We even have friends in town and talked this place up...and again this morning at 8:15 Leroy's was closed. The outdoor seating area allows you to enjoy the Door County weather and scenery and bring as many friends as you like. They have a wide selection of local and national newspapers, and the coffee drinks are perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. They're open later than other local shops so they're great for an afternoon pick-me-up and each time I've been there after three pm they still have bakery available.
