Gold Star — Restaurant in Erlanger

I went through the drive-thru tonight at around 10:15pm. As I was paying for my food the young lady was having trouble swiping my card, she swiped a few times and said it was declined. Then I got a notification on my phone saying my transaction went through, I told her and she said, yes, it just went through. Then I got another notification saying I was charged again. As I tried to explain I had been charged twice she immediately told me there was NO way that was possible. I asked to speak with a manager and another young lady came to the window telling me the same thing, that it was NOT possible and I was wrong. I then showed them both my phone where it showed 2 transactions for the same amount at their store. They both admittedly claimed that was impossible and it had to be my bank. There was absolutely no customer service from either young lady. All they said they could do was refund my $26.00 and I could leave. The younger of the two was very disrespectful and the manager was no help at all. I ended up taking my food and getting the first name only of the GM and was told could take it up with him, which I will not do. I disputed the one transaction on my card and my bank has already refunded my money. That quick, I was given better and friendlier service from my online bank than I was from those 2 employees. I will never eat there again, inside or drive thru. My experience was so horrible and so unprofessional it was embarrassing. Neither employee had any ounce of customer service in then and in my opinion should not be in the service industry. I am not even one to leave reviews but this situation was so awful I felt I had to share this for the General Manager to see because I will never go near that store again. On March 26th, 2025 I stopped inside the restaurants around 3:00 p.m. to order chicken bacon ranch full I paid for my order. I went and sat down the next thing. I know I see a man coming out of the bathroom and literally from the bathroom he went straight to the kitchen, put on gloves and started making prep for the food that's in the drive-thru at that time. Unfortunately it's kind of sad because there is no ServSafe being used at that moment in time. Just because you went and used the restroom and then got out. Does not mean that you started straight up handling food for people because that's cross-contamination. You came from the bathroom to the kitchen. Regardless, if you had a paper towel in your hand or not still that's nasty. I went up to the ground. I was like it's at your manager over there and surely enough it was the manager in charge that day and literally he started hearing about it and he's like what's the problem and then he just started getting offended by it because that's the truth though if you're going to be serving people food. Therefore you should be using safe practices because you know what. Regardless, if you've gone outside to smoke a cigarette clean the dining room tables use the restroom that is a part of SurfSafe and crossgatamination is a big deal too because you don't want somebody to get sick because of what you are serving. It needs to be discussed about. That's all it comes down to because it's not really healthy....

Out of all the chili restaurants, I enjoy Gold Star. The food from the restaurant is tasty as well as their frozen chili that's available for purchase in stores. The location of this Gold Star is a little odd but manageable. All in all, everything is great except for one big complaint about a specific menu option. I wanted to get my toddler some chili spaghetti, so I figured I'd get the "small/child" option. I am appalled that for $7, this is the size of that portion - the size of your hand (if that) and a small salad fork. I may as well have bought the tasty frozen chili (which is around $4 and serves plenty) and cooked up my own spaghetti.
