Everything was great until it was the end of the day (4:30pm on Sunday). First, I had already paid an extra $45 so my daughter (who's 11) could bring a friend and her oldest sister (who's 21 and only has Sunday's off work) could join us for what we thought was the day. We got there at 2:30 and her sister and brother-in-law met us at 3:30. The plan was to swim indoors until closing at 4:30 and then spend the rest of the day at the outdoor Waterpark until 8pm. However, this was our first time using our membership and we had no idea that you couldn't bring a guest to the outdoor Waterpark on the weekends (nobody told us any of this during our tour 3 days prior, and I had tried reaching out with questions before we came, but couldn't get through and received no reply to messages before we came, so we didn't find it until we got there). So after the indoor pool closed, we all made our way to the locker rooms to shower and go home, but was rushed out of the locker rooms by the lady working the front desk because it was closing time. While in the locker rooms to rush us out, she grabbed my Vera Wang towels and threw them in with the facility laundry (which were white, but much thicker and twice the size of the towels provided by the facility, and had a black tag that said "Simply Vera" on them). So when I got home to hang out towels to dry, I didn't know she had taken them until they were gone, and my 11 year old told me she seen the lady grab them but was too afraid to say anything because the lady "was mad we were not gone and was rushing around the locker room and she was scary" (I was in the shower when she took the kid's towels or I would've stopped her from taking them, but the kid's were too afraid and didn't tell me until we got home). I tried to call about it, but because they were closed, nobody answered. So our 2 hour day at Silverlake ended up costing me over $100, along with ruined plans for the day. We're going to try going back in a couple days, and hopefully it'll be a better experience. Our first time going I learned not to take white towels, not to plan on bringing a guest on the weekend, and that when the pool closes, so does the locker rooms and to just wait until you get home to shower and hope your hair doesn't turn green (my girls and I all have blonde hair), or leave the pool...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate Aug 2024. Please read this full review for a balanced point of view. I am a long time member and primarily only use the treadmills. From time to time they fall into disrepair bordering on dangerous. Presently I have reduced my review from many stars to 2 because the treadmills that I use need to be replaced. See photo. I have attempted to report this issue to the staff at Silver Lake I've been told that I need to go report it to somebody else. Visit and inspect before making the Silverlake investment. Silverlake offers outdoor water-park style pool, indoor Olympic pool, indoor warm wading pool, gymnastics, daycare, host of studio classes, cross training, saunas, treadmills, weights, and many other amenities of a large athletic centers. Multi-generational patrons with a down to earth atmosphere. I use a limited set of their services and have had occasion to be irked when treadmills fall into disrepair and don't get fixed, so check into the place and look closely at what you would personally use. Expensive but good and recommended by me. I update my reviews and review only places i frequent... Think Silverlake rates 4.5 stars September 2017
Update April 2022: Silver Lake has survived the pandemic and done a very nice job of maintaining excellent facilities as mentioned above. my one gripe these days is the lack of cleanliness in the men's locker room. if you are a biologist looking for samples of every fungus known to man, grab your petri dish and head for the men's locker room. the floor is a gold mine. In 10 years there I have never seen it mopped. So flip flops are a must for the showers at least in the men's. but it really is quite a fine facility. Men's locker room dirty AF. Not for the ringworm adverse š

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI guess I'll start off with the positives since there aren't many, to give an honest review. The place has great facilities for family fun, especially kids. It can be worth the money if your main focus is to entertain your children. However, that is the only good thing I can say about this place. I'll start with the fitness center since that is the facility I use most. I have made 4 complaints now for absolutely nothing to be done. They were all for different reasons. To summarize, they let children run wild throughout the entire facility with no adult supervision from parents or staff. They play around in the weight room and gym and cause problems and potential injuries. I have also seen unmonitored children assault other children with no parents or staff anywhere to be found. Not to mention zero repercussions for members that abuse the facilities. The gym equipment is either constantly broken or incredibly old and near breaking to the point it feels unsafe to use. The steam room is out of order nearly half the total time I've been a member there. They have all the money in the world for their children activities, bar/grill, personal training, but absolutely ignore their fitness facilities for the common member. Not to mention, I personally know some of the employees and they always talk about how poorly they are paid and how understaffed they are and it shows. I could go on and on but there's no use. I just want them to run a good business because it's a nice place, but management is absolutely terrible. Personally, I don't find it worth the price unless you have a family with small children, but if you are serious about fitness I would avoid this place. Planet fitness takes better care of their members and equipment...
