Restaurant Review: Sake Bomb Sushi
During a recent visit to Sake Bomb Sushi in Northern Kentucky, my 10-year-old son and I experienced a mix of excitement, great food, and a few service-related challenges. This was our first time at the restaurant, which I discovered through Google Maps. The glowing reviews and the promise of ramen piqued our interest, especially since ramen is one of my son's favorite dishes.
Upon arriving, we were immediately struck by the traditional decor, which was inviting and created an authentic ambiance. The menus were well-designed, making it easy to browse the extensive options. However, as first-time visitors unfamiliar with the restaurant's offerings, we found ourselves needing guidance to navigate the menu.
Unfortunately, this is where the experience faltered slightly. While our server was polite and attentive in terms of basic service, they struggled to provide the assistance we needed to understand the menu and make informed choices. Despite my mentioning multiple times that it was our first visit and that we had questions, the server could only read directly from the menu, offering little additional insight. While I understand that English was not their first language, I believe the restaurant could benefit from ensuring servers are trained to assist new customers effectively, especially those unfamiliar with the style of cuisine offered.
That said, the food was absolutely delicious and lived up to the high expectations set by the restaurant's reputation. We ordered three sushi rolls, ramen, stir-fried noodles, and a beef dish, all of which were flavorful and well-prepared. Each dish demonstrated the quality and care that goes into the menu, and it’s clear why Sake Bomb Sushi has earned loyal patrons in the area.
For new customers, however, a little more attention to introducing the menu and dining style would go a long way. It seems the restaurant expects many of its visitors to be repeat customers who already know what they want, which can be a bit overwhelming for first-timers.
Overall Impression: Despite the service hiccup, I give Sake Bomb Sushi five stars. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the overall experience were excellent, and I look forward to returning to try more of their menu. This is not a complaint but rather a suggestion for improvement: better menu guidance for newcomers would enhance the dining experience. I’m excited to explore more dishes on...
Read moreParke was incredibly rude to me. And no one in there spoke English. I had ordered online because I would not have made it in time to do an order in person. I have celiac disease and in the allergen Section I Listed my allergy. Reading the ingredients, The sushi roll I ordered did not appear to have any gluten. When I arrived there, I tried to ask multiple different Staff members What had gluten in it And nobody could understand me and they went to get Park. I talked to Park and ask him what about the roll had gluten in it And he said the crispies on top. I asked them to make it no crispies and he’s started to refuse because it was already made. Which if there’s going to be an issue and you need to confirm with the customer, you should not make it first. I then told him that I cannot eat it with the crispies as it damages my intestines. He said can I just pick them off and I said no because there’s still going to be gluten on there and so he finally remade it. He told me that I wasn’t allowed to order online and he would cancel my order in the future if I did because they said they needed to talk to me. I asked why this was and he said because of your allergy. I proceeded to say I put my Allergy in the proper comment section. He proceeded to say how the hell are we supposed to know what to do? Well, here’s my answer to that question. A gluten allergy is plain and simple no cross contamination and no gluten and no further questions need to be asked and if they do, you can call the phone number that’s listed on the takeout order. I will never spend...
Read moreWhen I arrived, I asked the male server, whom I assume was the manager, for recommendations. He was quite curt, telling me to just pick something. I inquired about the noodles, and when I mentioned I didn't like spicy food, he suggested the chicken fried rice.
After trying it, I found the dish dry, even with sauces. I requested a replacement, but he said no. When I asked for a refund, he refused, stating I had already eaten it. He claimed he couldn't make decisions about food or refunds because it wasn't his restaurant to do so. They should communicate their policies before customers order.
As we were about to leave, they finally asked if we wanted more drinks which I felt like was a little too late. Additionally, when I asked a lady at the counter for soy sauce, she looked annoyed but eventually got it for me. I mentioned that their service wasn't friendly, but they just stared at me in silence. Overall, while the food was just okay, the lack of customer service made for a disappointing experience. They need to improve their etiquette. From the picture below you can tell I didn’t eat much for them to say no refund or replacement. I also see some customers say the same thing and they reply they will do better and fix the issue but still haven’t fixed...
