Five Points Sports Bar — Restaurant in Escondido

THIS IS A NEIGHBORHOOD BAR. Sat down at a table with my boyfriend to watch college football, couldn't make eye contact with anyone for about 10 minutes. When the bartender finally acknowledged us, we asked for a menu(drinks/snack/etc) and were immediately cut off to be told "sorry this is just a corner bar, we don't have a kitchen". Before either of us could say anything else, she walked away. We were not approached again nor acknowledged again for the remainder of the time we were there. Just off of observation we quickly realized if we weren't on a first name basis with the bartender or was not a part of their pool club we were not getting a drink. I really enjoyed the whole experience of this place. There are terrific vibes that make this place well worth the visit.

While some of the reviews claim that this place is a dive bar, I would have to disagree.

There is a pool table on one side of the bar and more seating on the other side.

The beer was relatively cheap and though there wasn't food served at this bar, there was an employee that made some clam chowder in a crock pot. He gave me a bowl to try and I put some hot sause on it as that is what he recommended. From talking to a regular, he also cooks chili periodically.

Update: This place is still a good place to go. Great prices, miss the pizza though that helped them stay open during the pandemic, and it seems the pool tables are now almost always for leagues.

Excellent place to come for good price drinks and a happy atmosphere. During the holidays they have special events, and if your good a pool they have a leauge. Can't beat the normal prices for drinks which beat the other local bars . Come down and...
