This was my go-to spot for a while; but, after the last few experiences, I'd highly recommend avoiding this place. Frida's is a good alternative if you need somewhere.
The service has always been okay, the tacos were really good. The past few times, they've excluded everything beside guacamole and the meat. No salsa or onion, as listed on their website and the menu physically in the restaurant.
Last time, I didn't spend the time or energy trying to get it corrected. I thought it was a one off thing. Tonight, when I placed my order, I made it a point to specify onion and salsa be included as it's listed on the menu. It happened again - just guacamole and bland meat.
I called them. The woman I spoke to said they don't include onion or salsa. I checked the menu again, where it said it included salsa and onion.
I called back and asked about this. She said, "They either forgot to update the menu or forgot to include it". No apology for the inconvenience or waste of money.
I asked for some form of compensation, even a partial refund. It's an $8 meal (plus tip, despite doing a pickup order) with no flavor. I mentioned that going back to the restaurant was not an option.
She said I could come back to the restaurant and return the tacos, or they could remake them. I asked for a manager to get back to me, she said okay and then ended the call. So, I don't expect to hear back.
I can't fault her lack of caring, she's not paid enough to deal with upset customers. The owners of this restaurant haven't put in any consideration to their staff's happiness, and by extension, their customers' happiness.
On the off chance someone with the ability to change anything reads this and cares, invest more in your employees. Higher pay, more training, and hopefully more kindness as well.
I will not be returning here. Please do yourself a favor and find...
Read moreWhen we first walked in I noticed there was Mexican music and it was clean. I came with my dad to try out the food here. We ordered Carne Asada, Adobada, and Birria tacos in addition to a California burrito. The staff were very friendly and pricing wasn't bad. We got our drinks and they have horchata, jaimica to there other coke drinks. They have a great variety of salsas and they have cooked Chiles and cebolletas (onions) . When we received our order and they were so well served I mean the meat to tortilla was off the hook (very satisfied) . I definitely got my money worth. The Birria was very good, it wasn't salty or as greasy as some other Mexican places in Escondido. The Adobada tacos were good, not the best but for my dad to say they were good, it meant something. He doesn't like eating out or any food other than home cooked. The Carne Asada has beans and that tasted amazing. It was so good! Now for the California burrito, the fries were perfect not squishy and not soggy. Definitely be coming back. Someone next to us ordered a California fries and they were also well served. They looked delicious. P. S. The red salsa is very spicy beware...
Read moreThis used to be La Taqueria. The food used to be really good, the service used to be very quick and friendly and the value used to be worth steering away from the drive-thru. Today I arrived at 11:30am. There was no one in front of me, the restaurant was only occupied by two seated guests. I ordered 3 items, a bean and cheese burrito with rice and sour cream, two pollo asada tacos for my mother-in-law, and a pollo asada tostada. There were four total employees visible when I walked in, this quickly reduced to two. I finally got my order at 11:53am after the restaurant took orders from AND SERVED two people that both ordered after me. The kicker is that since the rename/rebrand, this restaurant charges a credit card surcharge of $0.40 just for using the most common form of payment. Nothing says "Please don't spend your money here" more than a business that decides to pass on a menial fee to the patron. Why not just add 0.10 to every item? Why expose how bad at business management you are? And the last thing, they forgot to put the sour cream on my burrito.... Back to the...
