Decided to stop in and try this place for lunch since I work right down the street. Glad that I did, too. Ended up with the marinated veggies which contained roasted marinated portabello mushroom cap, eggplant, mozzarella cheese, zucchini, red onion, red pepper, and tomato with a very light balsamic glaze. $9.95
I also picked up a cranberry cardamom scone that was light and crumbly, the way a scone should be. Had strong flavors of the cardamom that was fragrant and could taste it in the first bite. This would pair wonderfully with a lemon tea or even a light blend coffee. $2.95
I also choose their individual chocolate mousse cake. The outer shell was soft and the mousse was perfect. The little chocolate cake layer on the bottom was incredibly moist and wasn't overpowering in chocolate flavor. I will say that this was quite decadent and rich! If you love chocolate then this dessert is for you. $4.95
Staff were friendly when I went in and the place was clean. They carry a small variety of drinks in a cooler and there is plenty to choose from for food choices. This is a bit on the mid-range end for food but, it's justified in the taste and presentation.

Read moreAfter reading some of the reviews regarding pricing, I was a bit tentative to try this place because the menu prices are not posted. As an fyi, most of the sandwiches are around $11-$13 which I think is actually a great value for the quality. We got the French onion prime sandwich and the curry chicken salad wrap and a chocolate chip cookie. The sandwiches were 5/5. The prime rib was luxuriously tender and the caramelized onion added a lovely sweetness and depth to the sandwich. The curried chicken wrap was phenomenal. I felt like it was a generous portion of chicken made with quality chicken breast. It was well balanced which can be difficult with chicken salad. The chocolate chip cookie was more chewy and reminded me more of a mini cookie cake which is not my personal preference (I like crispy edges) but they had plenty of other desserts to choose from. The atmosphere was bright and clean, and I would absolutely come back if we are ever...
Read moreA lovely little bakery in Centerbrook, CT; not too far from the Essex Steam Train. As a local, I really do quite enjoy coming here and seeing the new items that they feature on the menu on a daily basis. They feature seasonal items, so be sure to keep an eye out for what's the latest!
The inside is well kept and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The decorations also change with the season, which makes the shop festive and fun.
Their menu not only has sweet items, but savoury items as well. In the morning they feature breakfast sandwiches (on brioche or a croissant) as well as lunchtime sandwiches too. My personal favourite is the grilled cheese!
A few notes I've made were that I found their iced tea to be consistently rather watery, so I've opted to not order that; and a few times I've found the macarons to be an overly sticky texture. Otherwise, everything I've had has been delightful and I continue to be a...
