Have stopped in to Cooked several times in the past month and the food and packaged goods, while pricey, are of a very high quality. However, there is one young female employee who needs to work on her attitude and customer service. A few days ago, she was snippy towards me at checkout, not saying thank you or goodbye— literally throwing my receipt in the bag and walking away. But it was not a big thing and I put it down to her maybe just having a bad day. However, yesterday, she was disrespectful to me at checkout. I placed the two items I was purchasing on the counter in front of her and said “I’ll take these, thanks.” And as I was getting my wallet out, I placed my green fabric tote bag on the counter a few feet away (the tote had a few things from a pharmacy inside and it looks nothing like the brown paper shopping bags they use). As I got my wallet out to pay, she looked at my tote bag and said in a very unfriendly tone: “Is that from somewhere else?” to which I answered yes. Since it was clearly not one of their shopping bags, she was asking me if I had anything of theirs in the bag that I was supposed to take out and pay for. So at checkout she implied that I was shoplifting. If another customer had placed their handbag or knapsack on the counter, would she have asked that person if there was anything in the bag that needed to be rung up? Why was I treated like that? As a repeat customer, I don’t like to feel like I’m suspected of stealing when I’m about to pay. This is why I can’t give any more than three stars for my recent experience, and it’s doubtful as to whether...
Read more"Good things come to those who wait"! Cooked is a welcome addition to the bustling food community in Essex. It’s like an indoor farmer’s market with an upscale vibe. Lots of locally sourced goods delightfully displayed. Kudos for the salads and soups served in compostable paper containers. After several visits, we’ve enjoyed most of the baked goods, some chocolates, Granola Butter, and a delicious side of curried cauliflower to embellish a busy weeknight dinner. If you’re gifting a foodie, you’ll also find non-food items for the kitchen. Easy in and out parking is on the side, rather than in front. There is one handicapped parking space in front next to the ramp leading to the entrance. The aisles are wide enough for a wheelchair or walker. There’s usually someone available for assistance with items on higher shelves. If you’re on a budget, check out the “day-old” bread shelves starting on Thursdays for some great deals (they freeze well too!). Nice staff and friendly service. Looking forward to trying some of the frozen entrees and enjoying more items as the...
Read moreOh my GarSh! Not sure that there are words to describe the wonderful experience during my visit to this fantastic place. Hard for me to admit this, but the food tastes almost as good as Mom's. Perfectly cooked chicken. Was drooling on mehself the moment I stepped in the door. Had a chicken leg and a few small finger taters. Tastebuds were extremely excited to taste the carefully crafted and cood delectibles. The flavors were deep and just exactly what craving needed. Have always eaten like a bird, but seriously considered selling my vehicle to be able to enjoy the awesome food and people that were found inside this wonderful eatery. Strongly reccomend! Check this place out!!! Travel to here to get a grip on some...
