Was visiting in the area and happened upon this restaurant on our way back to Dothan from visiting Providence Canyon state park. We ordered bean dip, enchiladas poblanos and a #23 combo. I will say the food was excellent - really great tasting thin, crispy chips & yummy salsa; and our entrees were great - delicious mole on the enchiladas poblanos. BUT our server was awful! He never remembered anything. Never got our bean dip at all (he didn’t even realize). Took forever to get our initial drinks & didn’t return for a refill till we were almost done eating. Had to ask three times for another 2nd salsa (my partner likes to make his spicy) & he still didn’t bring. And then once we hunted him down for the bill, it was really wrong - he put all of the alcohol drinks for the next table on ours. I had to go up to the bar to flag him down & took forever to resolve - until he got some help. He seemed super out of it. I’m always willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt - but come on - it was a Monday night & not busy. They would do well to have someone else as the wait staff because he truly ruined what would have been a really good dining experience based...
Read moreThis was our second time to dine at Rodeos. The food is good depending on what you order. The shredded chicken isn't really flavorful even though it's used in several dishes...burritos, chimichangas, flautas, quesadillas, etc. You can make it hot or spice it up at the table. The best part of my chicken flauta was the dark part on top. The margaritas are good. The queso blanco, chips, and salsa are all excellent. The server on our first visit seemed to forget us. Getting seated on this second visit was odd. There were plenty of tables and 18 people waiting to be seated. No host or hostess in sight. We waited for 8 minutes, and finally, 2 guys came to seat people, but they seemed irritated. Our server on this visit rolled his eyes when I asked for a drink from the bar. When he brought the food out, one order was wrong, and he looked at us like we didn't know what we ordered. Dessert was a sopapilla that was good, light, and satisfying. However, we're going to try a different Mexican restaurant next time. I like good food and...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place and it started out strong but waned throughout the meal.
We were greeted by super friendly folks and our server was happy to see us as well. The chips/salsa was really good and we got our drinks quickly. One of our party asked for Merlot which came out cold and fizzy?? Our server also mentioned that she got sat with 3 or 4 tables simultaneously….
We had to ask for our cheese dip but she did get it quickly once we asked. The food came out and it was a mixed bag for sure. The beans appear to be the biggest angst for the whole group. They were gray and pretty disgusting according to everyone but I’m not a fan anyways so I can’t speak to that. My steak ranchero was good, the rice is what I would expect.
It’s hard to imagine why the ratings are so high but maybe we had an off night. It was okay food with the exception...
