Big H Chicken — Restaurant in Eufaula

Well worth the stop!! We are traveling back through the Eufaula, Alabama area and decided to stop even though it was packed and we were in a hurry. Now we understand why it was so busy. I got a two piece combo (breast and leg) that came with mashed potatoes and gravy and a yeast roll. The leg was outstanding, but let’s talk about that chicken breast, which is always the driest part, pretty much any place you go, so a good fried breast is a mark, in my opinion, of a good chicken place. I’ve never had a chicken breast be that juicy and flavorful. I’d put this second only to Gus’s Fried Chicken (IYKYK). This is the first time, though, that I’ve ever had the meat taste better than the batter, which is saying something because the crispy batter was very tasty also. My husband got the chicken strips with fries and he said it was definitely some of the better of both he’s had in any fast food place. My mashed potatoes were good. Not the best I’ve ever had but they were real and had great flavor. Loved the gravy but I do wish they’d put a little more of it on the potatoes. The yeast roll was super soft and fresh. The sweet tea is also worth getting. Sweet but not too sweet and a good solid tea flavor. Total cost for two people was $18.10, which is far cheaper than most corporate fast food chains these days!!! In fact, I’m not sure how any of the fast food chicken chains could stay in business or even compete with Big H for quality, value, and service. There’s no way I’d darken the door of a Popeyes, KFC, or Bojangles if there was a Big H in my proximity. We went through the drive thru so I can’t speak to the ambience of the inside but I can say that the staff was friendly and good at their job. They were spraying cleaners on the buffet glass with food on the buffet. The cleaner was going all over the food. They also were taking food out of the refrigerator and pouring it into the food on the buffet without heating it leaving the food cold. Also my wife went to get more food and the woman was taking a container off of the buffet so when my wife went to get some food from beside it the woman went to telling her "ant" like you would a child or animal when you don't want them to do it, so my wife back away while she took the container out and then went to get it again and the woman then raised her hand like she was going to hit my wife's hand so my wife told her that if she put her hand on her then it would be a very bad day. This is not the first time I have seen this same woman raise her hand to a customer, children and adults, and I'm sure it won't...

Food is great. I’ve been here a few times using their drive thru. I’ve always tipped and never had any complaints. Until today, we came in my husband and our three children. The workers are extremely rude and don’t care to explain the buffet and how it works instead they just stand there and stare at you like you’re stupid. Buffet usually means you can get more than one plate without being charged again (especially for a small Mac and cheese for a child that never got a plate to begin with) They act as if you being a patron and a paying customer is a bother to them. The tables were all disgusting. It’s extremely hot inside of the restaurant. They spent more time talking amongst one another than actually serving customers. This will be the last time we eat at this establishment....
