During our recent trip from California, the wife and I were eager to experience some authentic Southern cuisine. After a quick search on Google, we decided to give Sam's Southern Eatery a try. Despite the dining room being quiet when we arrived, we were immediately greeted with warmth and genuine friendliness from the staff, making us feel right at home.
The cleanliness of the dining area and restrooms was immediately noticeable and appreciated, setting a comfortable tone for our meal. We decided to dive right in and explore a variety of offerings, starting with the shrimp po' boy combo and the three fish, three shrimp combo. Each dish was served hot and bursting with flavor, capturing the essence of Southern cooking that we rarely find back home in California.
In our culinary adventure, we also couldn't resist sampling each one of their appetizers. Every bite was a delightful discovery, introducing us to new flavors and textures that were a treat for our taste buds.
Overall, our experience at Sam's Southern Eatery was nothing short of delightful. We left with full stomachs and happy hearts, grateful for the wonderful hospitality and delicious food. Whether you're a local or just passing through, we highly recommend stopping by Sam's for a genuine Southern...
Read moreThis particular location has a certain kind of magic brewing in its kitchen. I am not from Eufaula and live about an hour away, but had the opportunity to stop here on the way to Atlanta around a year ago and was gobsmacked by the flavors and price points. My partner and I usually split a chicken tender and fried shrimp combo, with fries and green beans and we always get a great portion, enough to take home and enjoy as a midnight snack later. I can't say enough good things about the food, which is always seasoned and cooked to perfection. The green beans are not just salty, but also garlicky with a kick of heat (sometimes enough to put a little sweat on your upper lip depending on who's making them that day). Their seasoned fries, always crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside, will be on my request list for a last meal on Death Row. Their fried chicken tenders or shrimp would and should make certain nationally beloved Southern chains weep. Their service is always friendly and I have no problem with waiting 10 minutes for food so freshly hot that it's still sizzling a bit when they bag it. With no exaggeration, I now make it a monthly tradition to go out of my way to come and eat here and it is a must-stop for any 431 road trips. 10...
Read moreVery kind and quick service, clean interior, and good food. The fried green tomatoes were fried to perfection; despite the tomatoes being a bit juicy, the breading was perfectly crispy and didn't fall off too easily. They were flavorful and quite salty, so they taste good even without the dressing. Same goes for the onion rings.
The fried mushrooms have a different, less salty breading, so they go will when the dressing. As for the texture, they're crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with the liquid from the mushrooms encased in the breading like a soup dumpling.
The bread rolls had a nice, buttery flavor, but since they also seem to be fried, I thought they were a bit too oily.
One thing I found strange was that the drink dispenser didn't seem to have plain water or carbonated water. Still, I'd definitely recommend this place for...
