A friend and I went for lunch today. Let me tell you this place has the WORST service I've experienced in a long time! Upon being seated, a waitress walked up to the table about three minutes later. No greeting of any kind, no how's the weather, no how are you, nothing ... just "are y'all ready to order?" The waitress seemed hot and bothered and acted like they were doing us a favor by allowing us to eat in their establishment. The place had maybe two people eating when we initially arrived. My friend ordered a can of Coke and I ordered a water. 15 minutes later I got my glass of water with, what appeared to be, frostbitten ice. I asked for a can of Coke instead. We both ordered platters and got our sides to eat before the main course came out. About 15 minutes later my friend got her order but I did not. The waitress did not offer an explanation. I didn't want to seem impatient so I waited and waited and waited. 40 minutes later, still no food. My friend asks where my food is and the waitress refused to answer, and stood there with a dazed look and a smile on her face instead. About 10 minutes later the waitress stops by and says my food will be out soon. Another 10 minutes pass and we flat out ask what is taking so long (I ordered the lamb shwarma platter). Again, the waitress stands there with a sheepish grin on her face and then walks away. She came back by our table a few minutes later and I stopped her and told her I needed to pay for the items I'd already received (sides of hummus, greek salad and a can of Coke). Then, and only then, was there urgency about by order. She said the food would be coming out any minute. I politely told her I needed my check so I could leave. That I was on lunch and needed to leave. She insisted that it was ready to come out but I declined. She offered to comp the meal and give it to me but I refused. I just wanted to leave and had gotten all filled up on hummus and pita bread (and part of my friend's pita bread) so I was okay. We left. I usually don't give bad reviews but this place has awful service, and that alone will keep me from returning. Too bad, too, because we were really looking for a more centrally located middle eastern...
Read moreI recently visited this place with a friend of mine. We were there to celebrate our birthdays which are a week apart. That said, it was the worst birthday meal ever. I love Mediterranean food especially Musaka, Pastitsio, and traditional Greek Gyros. My friend had been thier before and suggested the chicken and beef shawarma sandwiches. Of course I had never had the shawarma before so I asked the waitress about it and she said that it was the same as the gyros meat except spicier. Well being a good ole Texas girl, I'm all about the spice and thought spicy gyros meat, count me in. When the sandwiches were brought out my first thought was wow that's the smallest gyros, I've ever seen. Rather than folded in half it was rolled up like a burrito. My first bite was also very disappointing. The meat was like a chewy skirt steak. The only spice that was discernible was cinnamon. Neither of which was expected. My friend ordered the chicken shawarma and she was also disappointed in her sandwich saying that it wasn't like what she had the last time she was there. It took awhile for the waitress to come by and ask how things were and when we voiced our unhappiness with our meal she was argumentative and her solution was to bring out a small portion of gyros meat. After disassembling my sandwich and rebuilding it with the gyros meat provided I finally had an even smaller but edible sandwich. It was still not as good as most of the greek sandwiches I've had elsewhere. The fries where your typical american french fries. I thought that there would at least be some mediterranean spices sprinkled on them but no such luck. The menu says that you also get mixed pickles with your sandwich plate. I don't know what those are because they didn't give those to us. The stuffed grape leaves were good but also quite small and my friend enjoyed the falafel, hummus, baba ghanoush, fattoush and tabouli. For me however, I believe I can get better mediterranean food elsewhere and I will...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Hala Café in Euless, Texas for over 3 years, and it is hands-down one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the area. If you are looking for authentic Mediterranean food made fresh from scratch, this is the place. Every dish is cooked to order, so it may take a little longer for your food to come out—but it’s always fresh, hot, and full of flavor.
The menu has all the classic Mediterranean favorites—from savory shawarma and kebabs to fresh hummus, falafel, and perfectly seasoned rice—but what makes this café truly special is the heart behind it. The ladies who run and cook here make you feel like family. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know them personally:
Eman is amazing—if I tell her, “Make me something special with love,” she always surprises me with something incredible.
Azza has a bright, friendly personality that lights up the whole place, and she works so hard to make sure every guest feels welcome.
Sona is always smiling and cheerful, adding to the warm, inviting atmosphere.
Every bite tastes like home-style cooking from the Mediterranean, made with genuine care. If you’re searching for the best Mediterranean food in Euless, Hurst, Bedford, or the DFW area, you won’t find a better spot than Hala Café.
BTW if the owner, Ayman is there, he is awesome! Tell him Timbo sent you and he may just take 15% off your order😉 which is already...
