My family and I smell this place every time we go grocery shopping. I had a craving for Chinese food but didn't like the place my boyfriend picked out so I asked if I could find something else. I thought of this place--I KNOW IT'S NOT CHINESE! ;)
This was so much better than Chinese!! There were many things on the menu that piqued my interest but I stayed safe with the butter chicken. Which was SO good even my daughter loved it and couldn't stop saying that my meal was better. I also ordered Mulligatawny soup-- though good I didn't think the lentils were soft enough and found them to be a bit crunchy. My boyfriend was surprised I ordered this as it's not something he thought would interest me. It's like Indian (?) Chicken soup!
My boyfriend ordered the Paneer Pakora, garlic naan and Kadhai paneer. He really enjoyed his meal and the sauce in his dish was very flavorful. He purposely ordered a dish with a sauce so he could have the garlic naan.
My daughter ordered the Kanai , there was no mention on the menu about spice level until placing the order. I suspect if there had been she would have ordered something else. It wound up being too spicy for her. Though she likes spice, she's not very keen we discovered, on THIS style of spice. I found her dish was very good though opted not to finish it for her due to my adversion of chunked peppers.
The basmati rice was great, cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned with something. It had the best mouthfeel.
Overall the meal was very good though I found prices a bit high for the portion sizes. The entrées we ordered were $12-$13 a piece a better price point would be $9.99 to have me coming back consistently. My butter chicken had 4 bites of chicken in it. :( I wasn't a fan of the naan, I found it a bit bland but everyone else enjoyed it.
Overall, we will be back, my daughter will order the butter chicken and I will too but I'll try the other things I'm intrested in as well before figuring out what's my absolute favorite. Now if only I could learn how to cook this way. Also I'd like to note how nice it is that dishes with chicken seem to be made with boneless chicken thighs. There's nothing more disgusting and off putting than finding bones in your dish, though we know some methods of cooking this does happen its not something we...
Read moreI’ve visited this establishment on 2 separate occasions. The service has been wonderful with people who care about your meal. The chicken momos are amazing, they just melt in your mouth with the aromatic spices made of mainly turmeric. I’ve ordered them both occasions and they may just be my staple here. I’ve tried two different curries while visiting and both were superb. The most recent was the chicken tikka masala, this is a dish that I typically have as lamb at another restaurant India Grill and I believe they have the best tikka masala in the area but I have to say, Gurkhas tikka masala is so good that even when you get to the bottom of the bowl I found myself applauding how delicious it was to the very end. I ordered their tikka masala at medium spice and when it came to me I needed to make it spicier so when I asked for some hot chili to make it spicier the waiter said no I will take it back and make it spicier for you. Now this is a restaurant after my own heart! They also have a small selection of beer but as a well traveled individual,(~40 countries visited in my life) they have a great selection. I’ll continue to visit this restaurant and try a differing dish each time. Please don’t go viral so the restaurant isn’t too full when I go...
Read moreI LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We order to-go from here at least once a week. It’s fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious every single time. Generous portions and quality and ingredients make the prices completely fair. Not trying to sound like THAT person, but I did go to culinary school and worked in the restaurant industry for years. So I have pretty high standards, especially for places that I consistently give my business to. I’m so happy to have such a gem of a restaurant nearby. I’ve sat at the bar and had friendly conversations with staff and other regulars. Great service and food. I just can’t express how much I really do love this place. Plenty of options for my whole picky family too (my daughter will only order chicken fried rice. lol). I am not a vegetarian, but truly appreciate a well made and flavorful vegetarian dish, and they do a fantastic job of that here. Husband LOVES the butter chicken and tikka masala every time as he’s not super adventurous (he also loves the garlic naan and cucumber salad). I’ve ordered about 8 or so different dishes for myself and they have ALL...
