In October we ordered food. Some of our food was not delivered, so we called right away and told them. They indicated that we would have a credit for the price of the missing items.
We called tonight to place an order and received a call back stating that we had to order the same items that were missing. The items we were missing were the Hot Links. There was one in the original order, and it was horrible to say the least. We told them that as well back in October. They indicated we could get something else on the menu when we called back in the future.
The order we placed tonight was much more than our credit we had coming. We were paying the rest with a debit card. They called us back and said no, we had to have those lousy Hot Links again.
Needless to say, we will never go back there again. I have been ordering from Hecky's since 1995. I guess this is what I get for being a repeat customer. Good bye, Hecky. We're going to either Baby Ray's or better yet,,,Famous Dave's. They both know how to treat their repeat customers, and their food doesn't give you a belly ache like those lousy Hot Links you have. Do Evanston a big favor, THROW THOSE STINKING THINGS IN THE GARBAGE WHERE THEY BELONG. I have a little over $9.00 credit coming from you, SHOVE IT, it's not worth coming back to your place for. I rate your place at MINUS 5 stars.
I posted this weeks ago, it took you 4 weeks to respond. Please,,,, don't bother with a bullshit response like this after you flat out refused to allow me to order something other than those lousy disgusting sausage links you try to call food. I tried to be nice when I called with my order, only to get nothing but a negative response that came directly from you. If people really taste your food, they'll notice it has a very distanced taste of a fishy flavor to it. I don't know what the heck you use, but throw it in the garbage, or better still, close your dump, Evanston would be better off without someone like you.
I'll stick to better places like Famous Dave's or Baby Ray's, they both treat their customers like real people that they seriously want to come back. You're as generic as your response. I really hope people read these real responses and stop walking...
Read moreFirst time visiting. I'm from the south Oklahoma to Texas area. We have better expectations. When I walked in, I told them I wanted to taste the meat not the sauce. Did not ask for their bbq sauce, they asked, so, I stated go ahead and place it on the side and I might try it. Meaning do not put it on the meat. I ordered pulled chicken and some ribs. Ribs are cut into cube slices. That was a turn off, ok, meat is somewhat tasty but small bones because it's cut into cubes. Be careful and don't choke on that one. The chicken. Pfft. Bbq sauce was added. I didn't want it, told them I want meat not sauce. Told them in pounds of how much chicken, yet they made it into a sandwich. It had sauce all over the pulled chicken. Sauce is too sweet and not that good, for me, if you like sweet, you might like theirs. Not for me. They told me in the beginning or to my understanding it would not have sauce. Next, I ordered peach cobbler, it's cold, not fresh, and a lot of bread, very soft and doughy, not cook fully, I have only 3 peach slices and the entire container with lots of dough. I do not have any anticipations of going back. Complete waste of $35+. I tried to call them back but was put on direct hold. Didn't even have hospitality to ask if I had the to time to be placed on hold. Unprofessional for me. I was lied to, or misinformed did not get what I understood to be my order, when I told them specifically what I wanted and I was very clear about it. Strike 3, sauce, too sweet plus I didn't want it on the meat and I told them that. Extra strike 4 Overly charged for not getting what I ordered Good luck with your own review. This is only my opinion of what happened to me. Get your...
Read moreI was first introduced to this amazing establishment 30 years ago by a co-worker when I started my first job at Northwestern University, following my graduation, and have been stopping by every time I visit lakeshore's Evanston, my absolute favorite city in the entire United States.
Yesterday, while seated outside @ Hecky's, taking in the warm lake breeze with my sister Nahrain, we were coincidently greeted by the restaurant's founder and owner, Mr. Hecky Powell, an amazing man, whose catchy personality is a testimony to the media coverages, awards and community outreach & development programs adorned on the walls of his restaurant that has been a part of this auspicious city for 34 years and growing strong.
Mr. Powell's generosity extended to the beautiful photos I am enclosing in this review, as well as gifting us, each, with a bottle of his famous and very delicious BBQ sauce. It was an unexpected treat on top of his already warm personality and mouth-watering New Orleans recipes, which has kept customers coming back year after year.
Nothing gives me more pleasure, than to share my opinin about how welcomed I felt at Hecky's, but, moreover, how proud I am, as a human being, to give a testimony to one man's vision to activate the greatest missions of all, the mission of humanity in his community, rested on sincere work ethics. Thank you, Mr. Powell, for believing in making a difference.
Kindest regards, Helen Talia, MBA, CPA (Chicago & Phoenix)
