I'd like to go on the record as saying I LOVE Taco John's. Given a choice between the many Mexican fast food options, I'd always opt for Taco John's over Taco Bell.
Fast forward to just about any weekend trip we make to Evansville, and you'll find us eating lunch here during that weekend.
This Taco John's is a bit off the beaten path, being located away from massive centers of fast food overkill and is easy to miss, but is worth the effort.
The cleanliness of this location is kind of hit-or-miss and on one visit the iced tea container in the dining room was dripping...and by "dripping" I mean a pretty steady stream, leaving a large iced tea puddle on the floor. Other times it's as clean as can be.
Taco John's menu has a few surprises on it, as well as the normal compliment of Mexican food items. Yes, there are tacos and burritos, but their kicker is the tots...ahem...Potato OlésŸ. Offered as a side or as a part of another menu item, it's actually a nice addition to the normal Mexican fare. They're served VERY hot and are nicely seasoned. My favorite is the Taco BravoŸ. A warm flour tortilla, refried beans, then an entire taco inside...and it is THE SHIZNAT.
For the most part the staff at this location is friendly and helpful and the food delivery times are pretty speedy. We've never had a problem and the food has always been hot and accurately prepared.
I wish there was a Taco John's closer to Louisville, but since we're in Evansville a few times a year I always have this to...
Read moreLook. The people here are nice and everything but theyâre just too skimpy. Iâm allergic to beans they say they had some special today which let me add this is the first time Iâve ever been here. Thought that I would check them out I told them Iâm allergic to beans can you not put beans on the special youâre offering me for that remark I get a hard shell taco with a soft shell taco wrapped around it thatâs it nothing special mind you this was gonna cost four bucks I also ordered the taco salad bowl figured I could probably fill up on that the bowl itself was bitter. Barely had any meat at all in it. Whole bunch of lettuce and tomato though. Long story short I spent like 12 bucks Iâm gonna stop at McDonaldâs on the way back to the job and get something to eat because Iâm hungry will never return here again. I might try another one. Itâs funny too I asked the lady when I got my food I said thereâs no beans mean nothing goes between these two taco shells like cheese or anything and she said I think they forgot the cheese and stuff but didnât offer to give me another one or to add some cheese or something just no sorry you got kinda did dirty. As I was leaving she asked me how it was I told her the bowl was skimpy and she said why didnât you tell me I should I told you about the first one and you did nothing what were you gonna do for the second one I just wonât return here again. Suggest you spend your money somewhere else where youâll get some food for your money. Very...
Read moreI still patronize this business despite its flaws. There is limited parking and the entrance is quite awkward. I always get the beef super potato ole and enjoy it with a lot of hot sauce. Their tater tots taste better than Sonics. The service is usually spotty and quite slow so be prepared to spend some time in the drive-thru as they work through your order. I think the staff is hard to come by and they are often short-staffed. The food has always been good but I think they could work on their customer service a little bit. I usually go through the drive-thru but have on occasion dined in, too. There is usually a long wait inside as well as outside. The food is affordable and tastes good so I keep coming back. It is around $20-25 for 2 people depending on what you get. It is much better than Taco Bell and I like this. Taco Bell always upsets my stomach but Taco Johns has better meat than the others. I will continue to patronize this business. I do recommend this establishment if you are in the Evansville or Tri-State area and are looking for an affordable meal for most budgets. The staff is usually friendly but I think short-staffed. I have learned to go there when I am capable of being slightly patient as the wait is generally long. I generally spend 10-15 minutes in...
