Man, where to begin? First off, server? Super friendly, only reason you get a star in the first place. But, sadly, seems pretty terribly trained. Place seemed really new, the menus had a bunch of typo's (Cumcumber, really? That sure does sound like a tasty drink!) Food is very expensive for what you're getting, because it's pretty terrible. Cocktails are the same way, barely any liquor to em but still more expensive than most Evansville restaurants. Bugs in the ice and drinks, disgusting! When you name your entire restaurant after your rooftop dining, you'd think you'd put some effort into a view, maybe? Seems like they're really trying to go for some "high class" dining downtown, but honestly I'd be embarrassed to go if I were looking for somewhere slightly fancy. Very few options, only side is potato chips or fries? Really? If you're trying not to be fancy, that's great, but lower your prices for bad, fast food quality food.
Yeah, I really can't say anything good about The Rooftop except that we had a friendly person serving us, which is great. Don't waste your money, this is the best rooftop dining place in Evansville because it's the only rooftop dining place in Evansville. I definitely felt like I was at a soft open, where the kinks aren't exactly worked out, but when you've been open for longer than a few months, I feel like you could've taken cum out of your cocktail menu, unless it was intentional in which case, you should fire whoever named...
Read moreWent in to try the dinner menu. Never got to. Understandably there was a comedy show about begin in an hour downstairs however the rooftop was already completely packed. We never got formally greeted, had to ask 2 passing servers what we needed to do to get seated (understand the try of them were being overworked w/ 1 bartender. The 2nd server told us, good luck finding a set out there & we’ll be out to bring menus. 20 mins no one ever showed. Needless to say we took our party of 3 to a pretty legit burger bar down the street (where we saw 2 other couples that we had seen at the rooftop still waiting to be seated lol). Came back the next morning to try the Sunday brunch dinner. They advertise $10 mimosa pitchers on there electronic dining board BUT they don’t have those. The mimosas and the bloody Mary’s are weak. We had to order shots to add to them. The French toast tasted great but it was dry/ we had to ask our server for syrup to add to it. My sunny side eggs and sausage were both cold. There were only 2 other couples in the restaurant this Sunday morning as well. Our server Gabbie was very attentive though. Long story short- kitchen may need to work on presentation and food to table times and management might need to consider occupancy cut offs and wait times d/t their apparent staffing shortages. Oh yea, and for the good people of Evansville, put some daggone alcohol in these “alcoholic” beverages please...
Read moreTERRIBLE SERVICE!!! A couple weeks ago, my wife went with a several friends a week or so ago and waited over THIRTY minutes for service. To top it off, the wait staff was rude. Thinking it was an anomaly, my wife and I tried to go there for lunch yesterday as it is a short walk from our office. We waited for several minutes for someone to greet us at the door. We were then taken upstairs with no menus and sat at a table with three used glasses still there. Despite several attempts to get multiple wait staff to address us, we were never even spoken to by staff. There were two waitresses working with only six tables occupied. In fact, during the time we were there, the owner, a young guy wearing "The Rooftop" grey shirt walked past us, picked up two open Chobani yogurt cups from another table (no idea why it was on a table at the restaurant) and sat down at one of the tables with what appeared to be a buddy of his to chit-chat... He obviously couldn't care less about what was happening in his restaurant... No menus were given and the dirty glasses were never taken. No one ever talked to us, despite us getting their attention, us talking to them stating we would like service, and them making eye contact with us. After over ten minutes sitting there, we left and walked over to a different restaurant. My wife says the food is ok - nothing special; but, they don't care to serve...
