Cute Mom & Pop meets hometown Calico Cupboard type feel here. Falls short of 5 stars for me for a few reasons, but I would definitely return to give it more chances to earn 5 stars!
I've had their burgers, sandwiches, salads, peach pie a la mode and cookies/bars. Burgers and sandwiches are delicious and well done, with a fresh mixed greens salad side. Portions are good. Salad, which fresh, is topped with some sort of raspberry (?) vinaigrette dressing. Very light, but could use another topping like cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, etc. just to add a little more to it. Went back one time after eating our meals to order peach pie a la mode. It might have been an off day, but the guy forgot to bring it out. When he did, he did apologize and said he got caught up in other things, but the pie was cold (I did just assume it would be warmed and didn't ask for it to be heated) and the "a la mode" was a sad tiny two spoonfuls of ice cream. Taste was OK, but generally put tastes 1000% better heated, don't you agree? Since it had taken so long, and it came a la mode, I didn't bother to ask for it to be heated. Maybe next time. The peanut bar was tasty - not overly sweet. and lots of peanuts on top - kind of like pecan pie, but with peanuts and no crust!
Ordering at the counter and getting your own silverware and seating yourself is OK. There have always been tables available (4 seaters all around and a few in the middle for larger groups). I like that there is alwaya self-serve iced water (with lemon slices) available near the order counter.
I think the ambiance could be slightly improved if they could paint the sides of the concrete building next door, as several tall windows in the dining area look straight into these blank, grey walls (only a few feet from the windows) as the only view.
There are separate men's and women's coded entry bathrooms in the back that I think are shared with the Co-Op next door. Clean but older and smaller, 2 stalls but...
Read moreSisters Restaurant is one that I've heard about for years from providers at what once was called The Everett Clinic and is now called Optum Care Washington. And finally, because the Totem Restaurant was overflowing with patrons waiting for their turn, we decided to check them out. I was excited, but caught off guard when we opened the door to find people ordering their meals at the bakery counter. After gathering ourselves and kind of watching how others did things, we looked at part the menu, beautifully written in the board, as well as on the papers in a basket next to the counter. It was finally our turn and after standing there salivating over the baked goods in the glass case. I ordered a quiche and hubby ordered a burger. We both ordered a fancy smanchy coffee drink then went into the dining room to wait for our food. I loved the brick wall as it definitely gave character to this non-traditional (or dare I say extremely historic-traditional) establishment. We first received our coffees which were served in mugs & saucers we would've found in a countryside pantry. Then our food came. It was good, but nothing that stood out I would crave for. We both did enjoy our soups with our entrees. They were both very flavorful . I also decided to try two of the baked cookies. Unfortunately I was sadly disappointed as their flavor was lacking and I didn't even finish them. Overall, I'm glad I can check this establishment off my list. It wasn't anything I'd recommend, but it's not a restaurant I would tell anyone not to go to. Who knows? You...
Read moreFirst time here so food was really good and the people were nice, nice atmosphere but as some have said, it is confusing to order and I had to ask how the process works. It's not hard to figure it out, you order at the counter, they give you a toy to take to your table and that's how they know your order. You do have to get your own silverware, coffee, and refill your own coffee, etc. That's the reason for four stars. This place would be awesome if they followed standard restaurant procedures and it seems to be the only negative part of most of the comments. Wouldn't seem that hard to change to make people happy. I am a tipper and left a generous tip on my pre-ordered and pre-paid bill. If I had known that I would be doing all of the work myself the tip would have been about 5% instead of the 25% that I left. I ordered eggs over easy, hotcakes, and sausage patties. Hotcakes seemed homemade, not just the sickening sweet box mix that most restaurants use. Sausage was good quality and hand patted. Eggs were cooked correctly. Generous helping of food and priced as expected. Good experience and I'll come back. Definitely for breakfast anyway.
Ate here a second time. Food quality is still awesome. Service is still DIY and don't be in a hurry. The quality is without...
